| jturcio | I try to be nice most of the time btw. I'll admit that I was once in this authors position, but I never took the next step to release it. Why, because I understood after reading the materials on this site (and hanging around the forums long enough) that these types of things are considered more of a joke then actual work. Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but it is better to tell it like it is than doing so indirectly. :) |
| Moonraker | OOO, you were harsh. I'd tone it down if I were you. Last time I did something like that I was scolded by the head honcho (although I'm glad he did, what I did was un called for). Just giveing you some friendly advice. |
| jturcio | Can you point out what sounded to harsh? I don't like to be mean, just straight forward. :) |
| jturcio | I also asked around about a few of the choice "lines" before letting it go asking if it was too harsh as well. |
| Hunter Tamaria | No, he's being very straight forward. If newbies would just sit down and think of some new and creative ideas we wouldn't have half this low quality material, IMHO. =) |
| Paladin | why do you always send in these dumb mods to get them reviewed??? stop sending in this crap!!! |
| Locarius | "Come on people give us something worthy to review."
-All levels/mods are worthy to be reviewed. That is why there is a review section(so we know what to dl) |
| BizRodian | Once I made a level, I thought it was great, fun to play in, real fun. Everyone who played it really enjoyed it.
The idea of the level was pretty original, and some parts were very very creative. However it was boxy, full of stuff that was 'bad.' big rooms, lots of 3dos, etc. And I debated with myself weither or not to release it or not. In the end I didn't. Sure, it had original parts, and was fun to play. But it wasn't that good quality. I'm glad I didn't release it. |
| jturcio | It'll take time to get to all the levels/mods just bear with us. Oh and I knew that last line was gonna get some flaq. Just so you know I was only referring to those types of things (levels/mods) that were apparently, haphazardly put together, without any serious thought. :) |
| Lightside | It's times like these, when I can FINALLY look down on a newbie and see something worse than MY first project. Although, mine wasn't much better......Skydive, hence they name, if you will ;). Actually, this does look a bit like a WAR mod....which I actually enjoyed quite a bit. Although no one will be playing it, so that's why I aint downloading it. It's also times like these when I'm glad I've made it into 5 MOD teams. Gives me a sense of....oh, I don't know....'Good'. This author is on the right track, however. Testing, like I did. I actually debugged the manowars 2 patch and played around with the cogs inside and stuff. I foresee this guy suffering the same level editor's Hell I did. He will make other levels, not so well....but better and better. Man, I hope it doesn't turn out like that :(. Oh well, I wish him luck. |
| DragonPhinn | I understand why people want to release thier first level. I remember the sence of pride when I completed my first one. It was a big skyscraper with a pool at the base so you could jump tweleve stories into the water (what is it about newbie editors that entices them to make long drops into water? The world may never know). Anyway, I made the level not snapping to grid, and cleaving by eye. No need to tell you that adjoining was tough. But I kept working at it, and soon I created a fun level, that wasn't so bad looking. (Urban Battle Grounds). I made ten levels prior to even starting it, three beta versions, and maybe five renditions before I thought it was good enough to get posted. The driving force for me was Drazen Isle. I kept saying: 'Compared to that this level is a joke'. I see some really good editors (Tee, Ortheza) and I can't release anything that I don't think compares. I wish other people would act the same. |
| DragonPhinn | Yeah, and by the way, the finished version was NOTHING like what I first had in mind. lol. |
| Paladin | ok i said it before, i'll say it again dont send in this junking crap! you know it blows some big stuff thats unmenchoinable in this forum but come on! i youre going to review something review my mairne suit! it hasnt been reviewed and its beeen on the list for a long god damn time!
Get a grip! |
| ME_PrezAarven | Hmm...I don't know all the fancy words like Aesthetics but..I do know a BAD mod when I see it..I think you did right JTurcio..YOu are just saying what you think..Umm...I could do WAY better than this...He should have put in some mats and 3dos..And other stuff...But..I'm not the one making it so... |
| Slater | Its not bad as a first attempt, as long as the author has improved because of this and doesn't continue to release the same thing over and over again then I have no problem with this type of work being released |
| Andy | Big deal, it'§ the kid'§ ƒirst attempt, §o ju§t lay-oƒƒ. Hi§ level§ and mod§ could be better than your§ §omeday. |
