JennyDory Malorky, or whatever didn't make this! It was made by somebody YEARS ago! Dorkus Malorkus has been submitting loadsa levels in his name that are made by someone else, like Alien at Hyperview. Has no one else noticed?
BrianAre you totally sure he didn't make it? Perhaps he used to use another name? Because he's had these levels at his site for the longest time, and he *did* submit them way back in the day, but he didn't have a readme, so we refused to post it. Now a guy called Mr.RavenX or something put a readme on behalf of DM and sent it to us...
JennyMaybe. But if he didn't make them, he hasn't mentioned that he didn't make them. And on a more relevant note, I think you have been too harsh on MERC Waterfall. I love this level and I've had it sice I downloaded it ages ago.
BrianThe RavenX guy mailed the levels to us - he's working with the Dork guy on the DorkFile site I think...
MrRavenXYou've gotta be kidding me... Dorkus Malorkus has created every single level he has released. I've known the guy for 3 years and I've helped beta test just about everything he's made. The only project I know of where he required help was in Alien, where MERC_Hutt helped a little bit with the cogs and one texture... nothing more. And he was credited for his work in the loading screen. If someone else is releasing ANY of the levels on "The Dorkfiles" (www.phoenixknights.net/dorkfile) underneath a different name, then they are the ones stealing Dorkus' work. Please notify me immediately if this is the case so I can remedy the situation.
MrRavenXbtw... one thing to bear in mind is that all of Malork's levels are 1-2 years old. So his editing goes way back to the "beginning days" of JK editing. Not all the fancy-smancy tools were availible then. This being said, you really gotta give him props for his outstanding work. Oh yeah... one last thing. Malorkus is also retired from JK editing (and very busy these days)... this is why I pretty much run everything on the Dorkfiles.
Dorkus MalorkusAs far as me not creating these levels, I can email you the original Jed Files, if you like. The texture stitching was done when jed had that bug in it, where I couldn't align the damn textures half the time, and had to do alot of them by hand. I didn't do the level to be pretty, thats why I did Saberlevel V, which I released at about the same time. At the time, the craze going around the JK world was heavy gunplay, I created a level where that was exactly the point of the level. Not a lagfest like Drazen (which was released about 9 months before this one) or a circle type like oasis. Also, as far as the sector tints go.... I hated being partway out of the water and my screen turning a gross blue. Sector tints in JK suck, plain and simple. The transition between tint (and various shades of tinting) is just too extreme to be used properly. Its been about a year or more since I've even pulled jed out, I do miss it at times, but I'm glad I'm retired, honestly. Nuff said, any questions? Email me!
GODSHATTERI think the initial review of waterfall here is pretty good. However it is only the opinion of the reviewer.
Dorkus made this level for MERC.At one point merc simply hosted his levels on their old site and if anyone wanted to download them then that was fine. This isnt just an "author" your talking about here ,the is dork_malorkus.He was doing this stuff earlier than most editors and by the time creating JK add on files became trendy it took people aeon's to catch up with him.
Sure there are hidden traps and stuff.Yeah maybe he forgot to add sounds for water. But keep in mind this at one time was a very sought after level and I still consider it a great one.
It was a good review...still I think it deserved just a bit more credit than it got here.
