Atlantis
Author: [bug] Reviewer: [Moonraker]
- Aesthetics:
- This level has got it where it counts. The level really gave me that feeling of an abandoned ancient city left in ruins. The
atmosphere was set perfectly and the architecture likewise. The only problem I had with this level was the ocean, the mat didn't
multiply well. This didn't affect the gameplay at all, it's only a minor flaw. The texturing was a little plain but there is not much
you can do you to get that roman ruin feel. The lighting was done perfectly, casting off the arches and hallways. The detail I liked
the most was the crashing waves sound, it made the level feel just that much more real. You just get that feeling of a good level
and atmosphere, words can't describe it adequately.
- Gameplay:
- I really haven't played a level like this in a long time. Its design is so perfectly made for deathmatch. You get a sense of freedom
but enclosure in this level. The item placement is very well done and weapons are far and few. The architecture in this level
adds to the gameplay. You can hide behind columns and wait for your opponent to come around to pop him off and things like
that. This level has truly etched the picture of Atlantis in my mind.
- Final Comments:
- This is just one of those levels that only comes around every once and a while. It's one of the few levels that makes you feel
like you're there, there is so much going for this level that I don't know where to start. Words aren't good enough to explain
this level, it sets standards for levels to come. If you want my advice, download this level.
