Paranoid
Author: [CavEmaN] Reviewer: [Beatle]
- Aesthetics:
- This was an average looking level. All the sectors were boxes. The textures seemed to be colored spinoffs of the canyon/valley textures, which put a green/blue-yellow theme throughout. The walls were that paper-thin variety, and in some places you could see little crack "HOM" effects, which were also present in some grate flooring. However, the wall problems were minor, and one would only see the grate flooring if you walked with your head down as you rounded corners where they it was placed. The only dynamics were the colored sectors, which one may think seems a lot like colored lighting. There was also a weird screaming sound in the background, which I expect would get a little repetitive if you remained in the area where it played. Other than that, it looked rather nice on the whole.
- Gameplay:
- This level was exceptionally fast paced and fun when I played with others. There wasn't a great amount of lag, and I expect that with slower computers one might experience a drop of framerate in the main area. Something that stands right out was the item placement. While the placement itself was average, the items varied in height from the floor. There were many crossbows and railguns, and a concussion rifle contained in a force field. To deactivate the force field, you need to switch a switch. Also, in some sectors I suddenly found myself floating so that I could get the second level. The flow of the level was above average, the entire level revolving around the main area with the pit in it.
- Final Comments:
- I think this would make a fun level for a maximum of four players, and I can see it popping up now and then on the Zone. Personally, I preferred no force guns, as the sniper opportunities are just too much to pass up on... The level was also fun with sabers, but as much as with guns. I liked this level, so I'd recommend downloading it if you liked small, fast, and furious games with guns and sniping and close quarters combat.
