The Default Level Pack
Author: [oSiRiS, Hoard, and ToK] Reviewer: [Moonraker]
Aesthetics:
It's quite an experience to fight in a dflt level. If there is one drawback though, it isn't pretty. After a while it can hurt your eyes because of the brightness. All the levels are mainly dflt textures but they all have some normal textures in them, like the sky or a waterfall. The level "Chaos Chasm" had an orange type tint and it really made the level look bad, it would have looked allot better without it. This pack Definitely wasn't mean for aesthetics, so lets just move on to the more glorious parts of the pack....
Gameplay:
All in all this pack dishes out some solid, fast, furious, and just plain deadly gameplay. If there is any area this pack shines in, it's gameplay (and of course originality). "Vertical Rush" is very fast paced and plays like the name implies, it's vertical fragging. This level makes for some very interesting battles, once at the top things get really dangerous and the loser is usually the one who falls first. The framerate runs fair in this level but the higher you go and look down or the lower you are and the higher you look up drops the framerate drastically. There was also a rather important glitch I found too, if you force jump at the top level you will be stuck in the sky above the whole level and not be able to come down, forcing you to abort. "Death in a Can" doesn't break the "wake up and die" trend of the pack. It's loaded with conc rifles and contains no health. Its design is linked together perfectly and it flows like a merry go round. This level gives "fast gameplay" a new meaning. The framerate is solid and doesn't have much room to drop unless you cram a whole bunch of people into one room with concs. Last but certainly not least is "Chaos Chasm", another deadly level. This level really is chaos, with the conc rifles and its design you’re almost guaranteed to have a life expectancy of 5.2 seconds. The whole design fits together very nicely. The frame rate drops a little in the main room of this level but that's about it, not to bad.
Final Comments:
This pack is.......well, different. It sets a new standard for fast and furious gameplay. It's not very often that you come across a level or a pack for that matter with the amount of originality and just plain fun that this pack holds. You would really being doing the pack injustice not to download it, so stop wasting your time reading this and go download it. Note: Please try not to base your opinions of the review on the score, base it on the actual review. The score doesn't do the pack justice.
