Aesthetics:

Jedi Middle School, the supposed heir to the JHS throne, does not live up to it’s birthright on all accords. Architecture in this school was boxy and disproportionate. . Many copied & pasted rooms lined the badly textured hallways. I had a very hard time remembering this was a school, and not some carnival fun house. Very often I couldn’t decipher what the author was trying to make the room look like. But, the author did not rip off any prefab, textures, or architecture. Whether or not that was a good idea, I leave up to you to decide. There were no lights to really speak of, and it lacked any dynamics whatsoever. In my 30minute stay at this school, I found none of the traps which made it’s predecessor so popular.

Gameplay:

The gameplay in this level also do not compare with the high school. Sudden drops and raises in the floor makes fleeing a battle increasingly difficult and irritating. You can grab a concussion rifle at almost every turn, and this makes the level a plain conc-fest, which may or may not suit your tastes. Since there were lots of rooms which were carbon copies of each other, it didn’t take much to get disorientated. The vastness of the level made me call out to my opponents, in all seriousness, “Where are you?”.

Final Comments:

Jedi Middle School should not be taken by it’s name, since it’s nothing like Jedi High School, the beloved User-Made level. I won’t be keeping this GOB, and I doubt any of the other 400+ people who downloaded it will either. Don’t expect to see it all over zone. Heck, anywhere on zone.
