The Dark Ages

Aesthetics:
This level has some superior architecture to it. A commendable job. There are lots of arches and triangles and much more. This level was far from boxy. Thank God. The texturing in this level was great also. There seemed to be almost no original Jedi Knight textures at all. What a relief. The texturing was very realistic and definately added to the feel of the level. When I looked around I found no CMP or HOM errors. Another relief. The lighting in this level was a little above average. Far from being completely lite, I think there could have been some more changes in lighting that could have been made. Otherwise, some very good work. Now the dynamics in this level were pretty good. I liked the ladder type things that you could use to climb up. A much needed change from those boring stairs... One thing I didn't understand about this level was the healing sector cog. You would jump into it and float in the air. I found myself running into the much too low ceiling much too often. And I never did seem to get healed by that sector. Hmm... Something to think about.
Gameplay:
I found that this level played very nicely. There were some errors though. Such as the hard to get up stairs and the lousy framerate when looking through the center. There was also one missed floor flag, but the only reason I noticed it was because I was going over the level with a very fine comb. The missed flag is hardly noticable when in the middle of a battle. The cogs in this level didn't really affect gameplay that much unless you used the ladder wrong and missed the landing. The item placement was well... scarce. I found very few items at all. But those that I did find where all evenly spaced. The most powerful items, the dark and light force surge, were both in hard, but not overly hard, to get to places.
Final Comments:
This level is definately above average. I had some good fun playing this level. Though there are some drawbacks, they aren't serious at all. I would suggest downloading this level and having hours of gaming fun.
