Forbidden Grounds
Author: [Demon_Nightmare] Reviewer: [Posse]
- Aesthetics:
- This level is a canyon with hallways of sorts connecting the upper area to the lower area (i'm up top in screen 1, down below in screen 2). The level architecture is not bad, though the main room is a bit plain. The floor of the main room is very uneven, making for varying heights that can enhance sabering games. The hallways that connected the floors were not bad, though they were a bit boxy. The texturing of the level was again, satisfactory. Traditional BGJ textures here, though in the hallways the floors had wall textures on them.. The lighting is where this level was hurt the most. Notice screen 1... It's night out. Yet look at the canyon... It's 100% bright... That shouldn't be, and takes away from the realism. The corners are the places that are dark and have shadows, but the whole level should be darker. If the author wanted it light, he shouldn't have used the star texture for the sky!
- Gameplay:
- This level plays great. It's sabers only, and offers something that to me is the most important thing to a good sabers level-varying heights. The level is quite small and is VERY easy to find your opponent in, since it's really just one big canyon room. fight up top trying to knock each other off, or fight on the uneven floor, taking your best swings. Don't worry about your foe running for items, because there are few to get. Have a good time playing nf sabers in here for a while.
- Final Comments:
- While the level does not set standards in texturing or architecture, it's gameplay is quite good. The level's simplicity aids it in nf sabers battles, making it extremely easy to find your opponent. If you like a good nf sabers game with some good gameplay, get this one.
