Dark Valley
Author: [Luke Skywalker] Reviewer: [Jason]
- Aesthetics:
- This level was pretty bland. The architecture on the platforms was pretty circular but I got the strange feeling the I saw the exact same thing, say from Lucas Arts' Multiplayer level entitled The Valley of the Jedi Tower. The rest of the level is completely boxy. The texturing was done fairly well in the fact that there were no misalignments evident except for when you fall into the darkness when you can see that the cliff textures didn't seem to be aligned correctly. But it was very monotonous. The platforms were all textured exactly the same. There were no new textures, not something to subtract very much from the score but disappointing none the less. The lighting in this level was not done extremely well, but there was evidence of it there. All the sectors had some extra light. There were no dynamics at all in this level.
- Gameplay:
- The gameplay in this level is, not surprisingly, poor. I found that it was easy to run into opponents, but it was very hard to do anything except on the platforms due to the bridges being much to narrow to do any fighting on. There was very little flow to the level because of the constant falling off of the different bridges, planks, and other such things. The item placement in the level was, surprisingly, a little above average. They items seemed to be well placed out and the hardest ones (both kinds of force boosts) weren't in an easy place to get to. Though the item placement could use some work.
- Final Comments:
- This level is not worth the download. There are too many flaws in gameplay and not so great architecture. This author, if he works hard, should become one of the top authors out in the JK community.
