Author: [Ryan Cannaday/ Srv_Ryan] Reviewer: [Posse]
Aesthetics:
This level is a small facility with a few square hallways, a room with a ramp in it (and packed with weapons), a "bedroom" (also full of weapons), and a small room full of weapons. Outside of the facility is an outdoors canyon type room. The canyon room is very boxy and is loaded with weapons. The weapons are placed in no particular theme, just plopped onto the ground. Throughout the level the item placement is poor, as there are far too many items. Also, the author didn't even place them properly and some items are half in the ground and half out. Architecture is bland throughout, as it's VERY boxy and there is very little real architecture. There are some 3dos here and there to add to the look of the level, but it didn't work. Texturing in the level is very sad, as one texture is used for the entire canyon (see screen one) and one mat is used on the ceiling and walls of every surface in (and outside of) the complex. The author added no lighting, and the level suffers from the lack of it.
Gameplay:
There is no real gameplay here. Inside of the building area (boxes with hallways) there is only one way in and out of every room, offering no flow. There are far too many weapons to make for a good game, as there is also a lot of health and shields, making it tough to ever kill your foe. The level has a poor layout and is too plain to offer a good game to the player.
Final Comments:
This was the author's first level, and it shows. The author should not have released it, as it's really not that good. However, I think it's obvious the author learned something when making this level. The author added cogs to elevators and fans, added hallways and new rooms to the dflt room, textured the whole thing (though he did a bad job...), and learned how to place items (again, he did a bad job). This was quite a learning experience for him and I hope that he continues on and makes better stuff in the future that I can give a good review to.
