Remnants of the Empire Part 2: The Lost Base on Hoth
Author: [SavageX] Reviewer: [Home_Sliced]
- Aesthetics:
- I’ll start off this review with two of my infamous “reviewer’s notes.” First, this review is only for level 2 of the ROTE series, not the entire series. Secondly, if you don’t already have this level, go and start downloading it now. “The Lost Base on Hoth” is simply an all around fun and good-looking level. The architecture is extremely well done with a good amount of variety mixed in. The texturing is solid, although I did find a few errors. There are also a few areas where the texturing and lighting don’t fit well together, but for the most part the level looks smooth. Once again, the dynamics are what really set this level apart from the pack. There are a lot of little puzzles and cutscenes mixed throughout the level that really contribute to the atmosphere as well as the gameplay. Another terrific job by SavageX in the aesthetics department.
- Gameplay:
- Plain and simple, this is just a fun level. Item placement is excellent, enemy placement is excellent, and the flow is superb. The level just plays well. If you are a gameplay-lovin junkie, this level is definitely for you.
- Final Comments:
- This is the strongest level in the ROTE series both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay. Go download the series now.
