Mechanics of The Force Level 1
Author: [Matt Chapman] Reviewer: [Home_Sliced]
- Aesthetics:
- The visual aspects of MotF1 are pretty average. The architecture and texturing are decent, but there is lots of room for improvement. The lighting is above average and incorporates some sector tints as well as plenty of shadows and contrasts. The dynamics, on the other hand, are superb. Perhaps even the best I have seen in a user made level. There are some great original puzzles, a handful of well-made cutscenes, and a fantastic cog/key sequence at the end. You should download this level just to see these great sequences.
- Gameplay:
- This is, perhaps, the most original-user-made-single-player level out there for Jedi Knight right now. There are not any other levels like it. The first half of the level is very shoot-em-up oriented, while the second half focuses almost exclusively on puzzle solving. Item and enemy placement are both decent, and the level flows well using all three dimensions. My only gripe about the gameplay is the annoying bug at the end where you cannot save. If you die you have to go through a 2 minute cutscene before playing again. An annoying bug, which does hurt the playability of the level. Other than that, gameplay as a whole is great.
- Final Comments:
- This is a “must download” level. The dynamics are amazing.
