Dead Reckoning 2
Author: [Christian Garris (Quilty)] Reviewer: [Home_Sliced]
- Aesthetics:
- This is a fantastic level all around. The architecture and texturing are both about LEC quality. Other than a few mundane hallways and some repetitive texturing here and there, the level is awash in visual candy. The lighting is quite impressive and gives the level a dark atmosphere. This is no static environment either! There are cargo crates, moving machinery, ships flying around, and even a few cutscenes. The author obviously put a lot of time into the visual quality of the level, and his efforts paid off. This is a splendid level in the aesthetics department.
- Gameplay:
- This level is no walk in the park! The enemy placement is quite simply superb. The level design and placement often forces you to fight outgunned and with little cover. Save early and save often. Item placement is near perfect, but a little more health would have been appropriate. The puzzles are well done, but no piece of cake either. A few very small surfaces that act as switches can be difficult to find and hamper the level a bit. If you are not stuck too long at any of the puzzles, this is a really fun level to play.
- Final Comments:
- Go download now! As the second level in the Dead Reckoning series, you have no reason not to. You’ll be at your computer a good two to three hours before you finish both DR and DR2, so leave yourself a chunk of time.
