Red Manor
Author: [Red_XIIII] Reviewer: [SL_Ki-Adi-Mundi]
- Aesthetics:
- Red_XIIII has been making levels for MotS for a long time now, and he has quite a few levels for download. I'm pretty sure this is his latest and greatest one. The architecture in Manor is pretty average with only a few boxy areas. The texturing is pretty good, but there were quite a few mis-aligned textures. The lighting was done nicely, with a good variation from inside the manor to outside. This level features a lot of new dynamics, ranging from new tree 3do's to fire sprites.
- Gameplay:
- The gameplay in Manor is pretty good, but much of the level is flagged to reflect energy weapons, making a need for your lightsaber. If you get in the fireplace, in the smallest building, you will die instantly upon contact with the fire. The ladder in the level is a nice touch, but you are very open to enemy fire while using it, the same goes with the stairs in the attic. The level doesn't flow that well either, mainly because many of the hallways in the Manor don't make a circular path around it, leaving a few dead ends. Somewhere in the level, it has several vornskrs in one area that you can get teleported to, and it has many places to fall off of and into the pit of the vicious animals. Item Placement is pretty good, but I found 2 or 3 revives in easy to reach places. Framerate is pretty low throughout most of the level, but that shouldn't discourge you from playing with more than 4 players. Force is needed to reach a few places in the level, and once you get there, its worth it.
- Final Comments:
- I recommend this level if you have any of Red_XIIII's previous levels. I know that I've enjoyed it.
