The Star Runner
Author: [Melvil] Reviewer: [SL_Ki-Adi-Mundi]
- Aesthetics:
- I didn't know what to expect from this level when I launched Mysteries of the Sith. All I knew about it was that it is a smuggler ship, and that it has a sort of closet place. That's not a very good description. The architecture is pretty average. It shouldn't get cramped anywhere unless you have more than 2 people in one room. The texturing is pretty uniform. A nice use of what textures are used, but sometimes they can be rather repetitive. The lighting is better than most MotS MP levels. The author used some new chair 3do's in the level. In certain parts of the level, they really give the feeling that you are on a ship in space.
- Gameplay:
- The gameplay is average as well. The level flows ok. If you play with more than 4 people, the playability comes down due to cramped corridors. The item placement is very good. There isn't a lot of ammo around, but there is enough so that you can waste a little bit if you have bad accuracy. There is one trap in the level, a thermal detonator trap. The trap is located in a 'high traffic area', making it all the more effective. I never did find a concussion rifle in the level. But if there was one, I don't think it would be very desirable to play with, due to the size of the level. There are a few Force boosts in the level, but I wouldn't recommend using the neutral Force powers, excluding Push of course. All the other powers work very nicely, especially the Dark Side. If you enjoy playing personalities, I would recommend this level for Scouts and Soldiers. In my opinion, this level should play best with about 3-4 people. Any less and you'll have quite a time finding each other. Any more and it can become too crowded.
- Final Comments:
- Overall, a nice average level. Sabering and Gunning can be enjoyed by all in this one.
