Forest
Author: [Ortheza] Reviewer: [Moonraker]
- Aesthetics:
- Ortheza has done it once again, another masterpiece has been created. I've never seen mats used the way they are in this level,
beautiful ferns and vines hanging from a dark cave. Streams of light peaking through the tree canopy, aquatic plants sprouting
right out of the water. The architecture in this level was very well done, roots of trees sprout in and out of the ground, you can
tell Ortheza really took the time to add detail. The lighting was absolutely astonishing, dark caves were dark and lit with streams
of light seeping through cracks. The shadows of the trees faintly darker, and the light peering through the canopy. This level is full
of wonders.
- Gameplay:
- At first I thought this level to be very small but when I explored more I found multiple branches in the level design. It is all very
well balanced and has enough cover and room to add to some very interesting gameplay. This is the type of level you want to
play with 32 people. The framerate was pretty good but it will drop when playing with allot of people. The item placement is
nice, weapons are few but when you find them, you find a big ol' stack.
- Final Comments:
- To tell you the truth, this level will be staying in my collection for a long time. It was once said about Ortheza's previous level
"with enough original eye candy to put Hershey's out of business." the same applies to this level. It is another one of those
milestone levels, one that I'll never forget. I now order you to download this level.....or....something bad will happen to you....
