Vote For Vader! - Brian
Check out the poll over @ AccessHollywood.com - they're asking who your favorite villain is. Vader is in 2nd place, so go vote him up to first. Note: The Massassi Temple is in no way trying to tell you how to vote, but if you don't vote for Vader you will be forever shamed.
Forums Update - Brian
The forums have now been moved. You can find them (for now, until the domain moves) here: http://198.92.131.6/. All logins and posts should be working, but if you have any problems, please email me!
Forums - Brian
The forums will be down until all the users/threads are moved over to the new server. It is taking longer than originally anticipated, but they should be up within another 2 hours (right now it is about 09:30 PST).
Etc. - Brian
As you can tell by the above message, we are finally getting the forums moved. We are also in the final stages of getting the hosted sites moved over. Unfortunately, we are having some problems with the cgi-wrapper on our server, so we have to patch it with a newer version. This shouldn't result in more than about 2 minutes down time, so don't worry. I tell you what, I'm getting TIRED of moving servers, but it looks like we are here to stay this time, so after the bumps are all ironed out, things should return to some sense of normality.
On Another Note... - Brian
Lucasarts.com announced yesterday that Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine has gone gold! This means that the game is FINISHED and should be hitting store shelves within a week or two.

Must've caught a bug or something because I was laid up all last night with a killer stomach ache (and some other stuff, but we won't discuss that here). Anyway, the Showcase forum seems to be doing well, so keep posting your screenshots! We have some new sections coming up @ Massassi within a week or two, so keep your eyes peeled!

Extra's Got A Brand New Bag - Kedri
Dragonfly checked in with some news about a new Mailbag over a JKBTG Extras. From now on expect a new Mailbag every week. Expect to see a weekly topic for each new Mailbag, too. This week: "What is the funniest, or just plain weirdest, experience you ever had while playing Jedi Knight, or MotS, in multiplayer?" I can think of a few right off the bat! Make sure to send your letters to extrasbag@hotmail.com.
Showcase Forum - Brian
We have added a Showcase forum to the Massassi Forums. This forum allows mod authors to post screenshots of their upcoming releases. So far we've had a ton of killer shots posted, so go look!
Spork 1.2! - Slug
The day many of you have been anxiously awaiting has arrived, Spork 1.2 and it's corresponding level pack have been released. Here's what Speak had to say..
Jedi Legacy and SHAFT are proud to announce the Legacy of the Jedi (SPORK) v1.2! SPORK is a popular mod for Jedi Knight that has now been downloaded more than 10,000 times in its original incarnation. Now, however, everything has changed, as SPORK 1.2 takes everything that was great about SPORK, and makes it better, introducing new elements. Some of the features of SPORK 1.2:
  • New attacks for both the regular lightsaber and the lightstaff!
  • 45 new multiplayer skins, including 16 new SND profiles with random sounds for certain actions
  • Force Push like in TPM
  • New, improved blocking system: block while swinging, and block concussion rifle bolts!
  • New weapon: EMP Detonator
  • Grappling Hook
  • Underwater breathing unit
  • Stylish new SOLOsaber blades
In addition to the work of 27 talented editors on the mod itself, there is an official Legacy of the Jedi level pack, featuring 10 levels just perfect for intense SPORK action.

For a comprehensive list of editors, features, reviews and comments, and information about SPORK, as well as the download of the mod and level pack, visit the official SPORK web page.

As a beta tester, and contributor, I feel confident and required to say that this mod is truly great. It adds so much to the old spork, and the level pack has some beautiful levels by some of the top editors including Neb, Captain Ramen, and other such fools that got tricked into doing all the work while Speak gets all the credit.

Description: This is a small multiplayer level within the setting of an unfinished TMA (Tao Merodan Armada) arena. It consists of only two main areas. The first, the section dubbed "the parking lot." The second, the main arena. The main arena consists of three floors with the first floor being a pit with a rancor in it (more players = more rancors). This is a lightsaber only level and should be very fun due to its somewhat enclosed area.

Spaceport Changes - Slug
Got some great news from Chemelion, over at The Mos Eisley Spaceport. They're changing their rating system to a style that makes way more sense. Here's what Chem had to say.
I have, in the past, put just a score of 1 if the category did not pertain to you. Such as if the level didn't have any cogs, then it got a 1 for cog score, which in the end hurts the final score. So, now, if the category doesn't include you, I take it out, and it makes the score a lot better. If I have the time, I will go back, and even out all the past reviews that have gotten screwed-over by this scoring problem.
My own level got hit by this little oddity, as it had no cogs in it.. Not that I'm bitter or anything.. I haven't been staying up late at night, drawing sketches of Chem's grisly demise, planning, and plotting, and waiting patiently for the day of reckoning.. Seriously, I haven't..

Revamps - Slug
Took a look at our colormap tutorial in the basics section today and found it was terribly outdated. I've updated it, and gotten it into my head that I'm going to set out to update all of the basics section that needs updating. To this end, I'm requesting that anyone who has some time, and some motivation to do so, to help me out by reading over the basics section and pointing out things that may be unclear, or outdated. If you feel truly inspired, feel free to write an entirely new tutorial on the topics covered in the basics section. Please send all contributions to slug@massassi.net

Spaceport Review - Kiramin
The Spaceport has posted a review of the Final Battle of The Phantom Menace TC. Check it out.
Wait a second... I'm confused... - Kiramin
Appearantly our hosted site, Irrelevant Skins has done something terrible. Mehab4 has created a new skin: not just ANY old skin, mind you, but a black-blue-and-white mandalorian! I have his confession in writing...
Wow, I did something relevant... please! Don't hurt me! Also, I made a horrible crash test dummy skin that will not be posted do to outstanding achievement in the field of crapulence.
Pretty scary huh? But don't worry, I figured out a nice little excuse. It's not really a mandalorian! It's simply some dude in a halloween costume, so it's really irrelevant after all...
Last Stand Productions: Ship Specs - Kiramin
I saw over at Outpost D-34 that Last Stand Productions has updated their website with some awesome ship screenshots.
Something Worth Looking At... - Kiramin

PlanetVampire Launches! - Brian
As you may or may not know, I have long been involved with a vampire site, Vampire Central. However, we recently had the opportunity to join the GameSpy Network. Considering the size of their audience and the benefits they offer, we chose to accept their offer. For the past few weeks, my staff and I have been frantically gathering information and setting up what we feel will be the premiere V:tM site on the internet.

Confused? Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption is a new game being developed by Nihilistic Software. Most of the members of Nihilistic are former employees of Lucasarts (which is why I decided to get involved in the first place). Vampire is a Role Playing game featuring one of the most advanced 3d engines on the market (developed in-house by a lot of the people who originally created the JK/Sith engine).

A lot of the appeal is based on the fact that Nihilistic is going to release all their editing/development tools to the public as the game itself is launched. These tools, along with support directly from Nihilistic and sites like PlanetVampire, will allow you to create your own Vampire chronicles. If you choose to go deeper, you can create a whole new game!

Well, without further delay, PlanetVampire today is featuring 6 exclusive (and rather amazing) screenshots. Also over there we've posted an interview with Rob Huebner, lead programmer and vice-president over at Nihilistic Software (he was also a senior programmer on Jedi Knight).

There's a lot of info over there, so go check it out! here's the link: PlanetVampire.com.

Tonight between Midnight and 1am PST our forums will be moved from the old server to the new server. Hopefully we can get it done in the hour window mentioned above. There will be a "forums down" page listed there, so if you see it, don't worry. There should be no problem with the threads/users being moved over (cross your fingers). Questions, comments, concerns? Email me.

New 3do Section Up - Brian
After a ton of work from Kedri and Slug, the new 3do section is up and running. It looks pretty much the same as the old one, but it's all database driven which means that in the future, you will be able to sort by author, date added, etc. It also means that the new script is up and running and new 3do's should start showing up very shortly. Thanks for your patience.
Etc. - Brian
Well, the DNS transfers haven't taken effect yet, I will be on the phone today with Internic to try to get it sorted out. This just means that you will continue having to use our IP address. "Massassi.net" should be back soon though.

Emperor's Reach IV - Slug
Saw over at OD-34 that Emperor's Reach IV has been released. David Mchale's darktroopers have made their return again, but it's a solid level otherwise.. And if you dig the darktroopers, hey, all the better.. Head over to OD-34 to grab the file..
Please Don't Hurt Us.. - Slug
A few people have been getting annoyed at us for not posting their levels or 3dos recently, so allow me to explain. As for 3dos, the 3do section isn't quite ready yet - Soon though, soon.. We've got 12 3dos just sitting around waiting to be posted - If you sent one in, we've got it, don't worry. As for levels, well, we've got ourselves a spiffy new 3do script, but the only problem is due to it using a database, we have to go and re-add every single 3do we've ever had sent in.. That's 100 plus 3dos. I'm sure you can see that this takes a good deal of time, and effort that we would otherwise be using to post levels and news. Things'll work themselves out soon though, never you worry.
Mordor Temple Updates - Kedri
This came in from Gandalf the Wizard over at the Mordor Temple:
The Mordor Temple has got yet a new design, and all its sections are up and running at last. The File Database section is coming along fast too, so keep your eyes peeled.

The People Have Spoken! - Kedri
This came in a short while ago from Captain Ramen at Outpost D-34:

BFP 2.1 MotS - Brian
Chyren of the Jedi Knight Multiplayer Addon Group let me know that they have released the "Big Fluffy Pack" (BFP) version 2.1 for MotS. In case you don't know, BFP is a very large skin pack. You will need the BFP 2.0 to use 2.1, which adds 55 new skins. To get it, visit the BFP 2.1 Page.

If you don't have the original version (or the JK version), you can get it here. If you are having download troubles with the JK VERSION ONLY - try our local copies: http://198.92.131.5/files/jk_and_mots/bfp/. We will mirror the mots versions tomorrow...

The Spaceport has posted a review of Jepman's recent level, Oupost. The review focuses on the fact that the level is small, which seems to have been the point of the level in the first place...

Return of the Hyperview - Kiramin
Thats right. Hyperview is up and running with a brand new site design. Don't worry, all their reviews of old are still there. They may have a fresh new look, but they definitely aren't starting from scratch. They've made a few other changes, as well. Check it out.

Boy Scouts Skin Pack - Kiramin
Have you earned your Lightsaber Badge yet? If not, check out this skin pack. It's Wesauron's first skin pack, so its only 3 skins. However, I commend this. Too many people start Jedi Knight editing by trying to create these gigantic mods, and all they deliver is nothing. Its nice to see someone starting small and actually going through with it. Way to go Wesauron.

Thanks to Jediknight.Net for this news.
Regional Damage - Slug
Ramen has been working on a very cool thing for his upcoming mod, Death From Above - Regional damage. For those of you not familiar with regional damage, it means if you shoot a person in the head, it'll do more damage then a shot to the chest. What's cooler is that he's decided to share the cog with everyone, and even wrote a tutorial to explain how to use it. Read more about it at OD-34. We'll have a local copy of the tutorial available in our tutorial section soon..

Has several switches for controlling when guns, shields and force should be avaliable. New JK Multiplayer Level: Cold Steel 1 - Kedri
File: Cold Steel 1
Author: DotF_Lightside

Description: This is a small level, kinda neat. Can't beat the download time. Good for up to 6 players (there are only 6 walkplayers). Walk on catwalks, scope out enemies, very close combat.
New JK Multiplayer Level: Jet Force Gemini S1 - Kedri
File: Jet Force Gemini S1
Author: DotF_Lightside
Screenshots: No Screenshots
Description: This MP level is good for 4-5 people, but with two players it rocks! This is an almost exact translation of the N64 hit game, Jet Force Gemini. This should give people a taste of what the game is like. This is a survival level, without a lot of guns, but man, lots of action. Series 2 of 3 will be coming out later. And don't be fooled by the file size!
New JK Multiplayer Level: Sith Twins Saber Level - Kedri
File: Sith Twins Saber Level
Author: DotF_Lightside
Screenshots: No Screenshots
Description: One of these is a very good remake/conversion of the old single-player level, and I thought that level would rock in sabers, so I tried to make it true to the game. Hopefully it is.

New JK Multiplayer Level: Dark Sect - Kedri
File: Dark Sect
Author: LoneGrayWolf
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: The Dark Sect is always seeking to sacrifice "LightSide Jedi" in order to harvest the force power for their Dark One!!! The level has a dark religious theme to it. It is a large level with many areas to fight in: the Lava, Kell, and Glass Tube Rooms, just to name a few. The level is intended for four or more players. There is a Very Secret Room that will be very hard to find, unless you have JED. In the room there are two traps that you can use on your friends. And the best part is that you don't need a camera to view your fragging. Enjoy the level and have some clean fun playing it.
DCM #44 - Kedri
Al MacDonald's cranked out another strip of his Diary of a Crazed Mimbanite. Warning: obscure references to early-80s television shows!
