JK Screensaver Update - Kedri
This just came straight off the JK news wire, courtesy of Mike Starr:
We are now entering the final days of the Jedi Knight Screensaver Project! With only a few days to go, time is running out! Send in your submissions while you can! I'll take any pics from Jedi Knight or Mysteries of the Sith. Although pics from the stock version are fine, pics from mods/add-on levels, as well as doctored pics, are even better. Get creative and see what you can come up with. Also, the game will automatically save the pic as a PCX file. Try to convert it to BMP or JPG/JPEG before sending it, as my conversions usually don't turn out so well. Try your hand at Jedi photography, and send it to JKScreensaver@hotmail.com.
I don't know about you guys, but this seems to me like a great way to immortalize your contest levels. Go for it!

Found this tid bit over at Outpost D-34, which is where Sandcrawler Productions is hosted. Here's what OD-34 has to say:
After a looong delay, Sandcrawler Productions's Art of the Lightsaber mod is available for download. This is a beta release however - there are no skins. A buggy skinset was delaying the release.
Want to download it? Well you'll have to head on over to Sandcrawler Productions or Outpost D-34 to do that!
New JK Multiplayer Level: Lord Thrawn's Personal Transport - Slug
File: Lord Thrawn's Personal Transport
Author: SC_RedTalon
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is an average sized multiplayer level, set in a ship, more specifically, Admiral Thrawn's personal transport. There are many traps, secrets--some that may be best left undiscovered=), and other goodies, like teleporters and various cogs. Also, you can take on AI enemies, such as atst's, and enjoy some good ol' fights in the ships's bar, with aliens you wouldn't want to meet. Other areas include: The bridge, jail, water storage depot, hangar, and more. This level makes for some great fun, and is my first full attempt at a level. Please have fun, and hopefully, I'll have another level coming!
GoZ Does It Again - Slug

New JK Multiplayer Level: The Platform, Inside Eagle - Kedri
File: The Platform, Inside Eagle
Author: MaGiCmAn
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: The Platform is a 32x32 platform that is great for saber duels. It is a game developed by the Queen that satisfies her while the King is on business trips. She has the match broadcast all over the continent. The ratings for the gameshow are incredible compared to normal Varidean Television. The second level is a skydiving type map. You ride the elevator to the top platform. From there, you can run to one of the three launching platforms. You and your friends can enjoy racing each other to the bottom. The floor is made of silicon, so you do not recieve damage when you collide with the ground. I hope you have as much fun playing these levels as I had making them.

Jedi Knight Episode Manager Released - blujay
BoBo Fett sent this in:
Jedi Knight Episode Manager (JEM) beta 1 has been released on the Jedi Dreams Web page.

JEM is a Jedi Knight/MotS game launcher/manager for add-on levels. JEM features built in unzip support. Just load up the Zip file of the Level you downloaded, press the "UN-ZIP and play" button and you're in the game! JEM lets you choose a common folder to store all your levels in in Zip format so you can save space on your hard drive. Basic file management tools are also included.

JEM CD-R Edition:
This is a special edition of JEM for owners of CD-R\RW drives that you can burn onto your disks with your levels. After you burn the CD JEM will be autoplayed and the user will get a nice little launch menu with all the levels listed in its window.

Hyperview Poll - Slug
Word from the grapevine says that the new poll over at Hyperview has to do with the Massassi Level Contest. So far it would seem that we're not doing all this for no reason, as most of the votes are for "Highly Anticipating".. Head on over, and check it out.. And for you graphics savvy people, they're having a logo contest for you to show your skills off..

New JK Multiplayer Level: The Lost Sand City - Kedri
File: The Lost Sand City
Author: Jkguy_009
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This level is a deserted "sand" city with houses and a really cool palace. Since items are scarce, it's not always easy to destroy your enemies. There's also lots of traps, but the level comes with a read me to avoid those traps (lure your enemies to the traps and watch them die!). A small level, yet with lots of furious gameplay!
Graphtallica Moves - darkjedi86
Well, Graphtallica has moved its site on over to its own domain: www.graphtallica.com, and has also added a texture pack, Texture Pack 8. For those who don't know, Graphtallica is a site with many textures that you can download and use in your editing projects. Luckily for us, Ping_Me has already converted most of Graphtallica's textures into .mats to use in Jedi Knight. You can download this mat pack here.

Big thanks to Outpost D-34 for the news!
New Network Site: Force Commander Outpost - Brian
I am very pleased to announce the release of the Massassi Network's latest site, Force Commander Outpost (http://www.fcoutpost.com). As you can tell, Force Commander Outpost is based on Lucasarts' upcoming 3d real-time strategy game, Force Commander.

FC Outpost features news, a huge screenshots archive, gobs of information and pretty much anything else you could ever want related to Force Commander. Obviously the game isn't out yet, but they will cover the news until the game launches, and then they will expand into various other aspects of the game (tournaments, strategy guides, etc).

FC Outpost continues the Massassi tradition of bringing high-quality Star Wars gaming related content to the 'net. We are very much looking forward to this game, and if you're a Star Wars and real-time strategy gaming fan, you should be too!

Feelings on Force Commander? Comments on the new site? Be sure to post a message on their message board (anonymous posts allowed). This forum is hosted on the uber-fast Massassi forum system (thanks UGO), so you can use your current Massassi logins to post.
Script Central Updates - Brian
What is this all about? Script what? Script Central is another one of my side projects. I planned on using it as a place to release all my CGI scripts, but I have been so busy that I've only packaged and released one script so far. Let's get to the point of the post then... Since Massassi started using my Links Script for our links section, a lot of other JK sites have downloaded and installed it on their servers. I just wanted to let everyone know that I've updated the Links Script to Version 1.1. It has a couple of minor bug fixes, as well as some new features (mostly more customization options). If this is your bag, please head on over.

New JK Multiplayer Level: Sabercraft - Kedri
File: Sabercraft
Author: Tee
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Sabercraft is a fairly large (but open) arena style saber level set in a dark forest on some far away world, where the trees have grown undisturbed for countless millennia, and have reached gargantuan proportions. In a dark corner of this world a small 'training area' has been constructed. This level should be good for atmospheric saber duelling (especially with Spork), but a 3d card is a must. Note: you can climb the ladders; walk up to them and press your action button.
New JK Multiplayer Level: Deathbane's Reject MP's - Kedri
File: Deathbane's Reject MP's
Author: Miras Deathbane
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This episode consists of four different levels: a low-gravity volcanic crater that erupts if anyone falls in the lava; an imperial castle with a throne room and dining room; a box-shaped level with a "platform of goodies"; and a large maze. The variety of levels should satisfy just about any style of gaming.
I'm Melting! - darkjedi86
I would just like to comment on LikWid's awesome Burn the Witch. After playing it with LikWid himself, and a few others, I was utterly stunned with how much fun it was. He has new skins for the witch and hunters, and the gameplay was astounding. LikWid has clearly struck a home run again in the Jedi Knight universe. For those who don't know, LikWid is also the author of Jedi Knight Pong, another new way to play Jedi Knight.

A few tips on LikWid's Burn the Witch: Always have force on when you play! The witch can't fly without force, and she loses her main advantage! Also, play in a level with big guns, like Canyon Oasis. This is a good choice because the hunters can only use guns, and they need big guns to stop the witch's rampage! I would recommend you downloading this, it's a ton of fun!
Catwalks Tutorial Updated - Kedri
SL_Ric_Olie sent us a revision for the Catwalk Tutorial he submitted a while back; the update provides some details about the negative-space effect his process involves, something that was stumping newcomers to JK editing. Thanks to Ric for the update!

You know, as time goes by, your editing expertise continues to grow, you look back at the tutorials you've submitted to Massassi in the past, and you think to yourself, "why didn't I explain that better?" or "I wish I'd written that after I learned that technique that shaves an hour off the whole process!" If you find yourself asking these questions and you want to update your stuff, by all means feel free to do so. I'll be happy to post 'em. Bring it on!!
