Description

I have conjured up a concept for more creative levels. Of course, this idea was kind of "borrowed" from Red Faction. So far, the concept has proved to work nicely. I bring you a sample of what is to come in my future levels, and hopefully, what is to come from other people's levels. Please, feel free to use the 3do's and level from this .zip as a base for your creations. And please, Use This Concept. :) It'd make me the happiest editor in the world if I knew that I started an editing revolution (or at least, a small craze) for a rotting game engine.

Very cool idea, It just needs to be a little more bug free. Also, if you released any half decent levels of the Geo-Mod in good action, maybe people would acually take notice and ask "How ya do that?"

I tried the same thing before with a mall level. Shattering windows too. If someone made a contest level with this mod it would make it much more noticable!

Well at least you textured this one, un-like the one before it. Also I did have more to say, but it seems that JKdude, up there took the words right out of my mouth... I totally agree with what he said.

Awesome, I've been waiting for someone to do this. How bad does it effect framerate?

This is a terrible idea and should not be used by anyone. No offense, but this effect was not well thought out. That tiny demo I opened in Jed and found over 300 things in that tiny room. Bad choice. Imagine an entire level like jedi high school filled with this. You couldnt get more than two rooms before Jed crashes of a thing max. Anyway, good try, but gain some more experience and you may understand why this will never be the 'craze' of editing (now if you were to make 1 3do that covers a larger area - that would be more like it, maybe)
Also, in screen mode 800x600 i got poorer framerate than wanted (more like 30 fps. i usually get 85 fps in JK) and thats a lot to handle on a GeForce 2. The floors were 100% solid and I thought this isnt right. I switched to SOFTWARE mode and it worked. If good card owners are forced to use software mode, this especially won't catch on -- not worth the poor framerate and screen quality.
Anyway I'm off to work on Xivian. (I'll release a preview trailer soon, trust meh, you guys'll like it)

BTW, while the name "Geo-Mod" doesn't tell crap about wtf it is, I'm guessing that its the process of extruding triangular shaped sectors and filling them with bumpy 3dos, right? that's all i noticed when i opened jed

This isn't the best use of the mod possible, but surely you can see how it could be better applied to another level?

I'm not trying to make the best stuff here....I'm trying to pave the way for better levels like this, WITH this concept. Hopefully, I didn't sound too snobby right there. ;) I'm just trying to create a spark and give other editors innovation. You DON'T have to put a crapload of things in one area. Just make one layer of Geo-Mod and you can tunnel with it around the whole level. It would ease the framerate, too. OR, you could just make it in certain areas. It DOES make the level worthwhile. My friend and I played LS Lab for 1 and a half hours. It only has one specified area of Geo-Mod in it...but it's fun. :) Like I said, I'm just trying to start something. :)

Neat little idea..except the concept isn't yours. Real geo-mod is where no part of the level is perminante, everything is dynamic. It basically digs out areas that become damaged...in this case, blowing up 3dos. It's a killer on the FPS, but would be super nifty if you made the walls alot, lot lot lot harder to destroy, and used it in an underground cavern level.

Wait a second, I couldn't fully test because it crashed, but am I to believe that the level would be mostly made of 3dos that are destroyable? yeah ive thought ive that myself a while ago, I think i heard of it in that other game ur talking about. Still, I think only really advanced editors should think about using this.

Only advanced editors should do this? HA! And HA! again!!! This was a test. I've said that. I could make a level take full advantage of this concept. Emon was discussing with me. And concept isn't mine? I know that it's not mine. I didn't copyright it yet. :D *that's a joke, just so you people know. ;)*

Uh...What is it? From what the screenshots tell, i see a badly made level with poor thing placement. Manybe if you SAID what it is, I could understand it. I don't want to download something that is anonymus. Or however you spell that.

This is actually a pointless idea. Dynamic scenery is extremely complex if you can get it to work right, which you cant. JK is "rotting" is it? excuse me, but i do believe its one of the more commonly played fps games around, besides quake and the like. Go shove your head somewhere, thats rotting.

A nice idea for poncy small levels, unfortunately, you did not implement at all well, and dynamic scenery in JK is buggy. Why dont the rocks fall down once you've shot out all the ones around it? why do they EXPLODE for gods sake.

Go and play with another engine. Try something like Space Invaders.you might get something right there.
