Description

Racing mod for Jedi Knight. You can choose to be one of six racers. Most of the focus is on speed and skill, so don't expect to get too much use out of your vehicle's weaponry.

We're planning on releasing a track-making pack, so people can make their own. We also could have a couple more coming out down the line.

AWESOME!!!! That is so cool, it feels like a real race track. I give it a 9. only thing i didn't like was the swoop sounds.

Finally, our baby is complete. Well, Arby, Tee, and Four's baby at least.. The rest of us were just sorta wet-nurses (Which is why I don't feel nearly as awkard rating it as I would had I done more than a single model for it)

Well thought out! I only run 8-Bit in JK for some reason, even with a 3d card. (Graphics Blaster Exxtreme)

My only suggestions:
-Animate the swoops with bobbing up and down, banking on a turn, etc.
-Adjust the Jawa's chase cam (WAY TOO CLOSE)
-Create an 8-bit version as well
-Add more sounds - specific swoops sounds, rider sounds (maybe tuants) and deaths
-Work on a new HUD

I never died other than falling off a cliff, do the swoops explode when out of energy?

This was pretty good, but I do hope it's not the final version because it could still use a bit of work.

It felt too much like I was playing a First Person shooter, except the player moves at fast speed. There's a number of pretty simple things that can give off the impression that you are controlling a racing machine. Disable jump.. the player could still jump like in a shooter. Add engine noises.. the silence was weird... add engine noises.. different noises for different racers would be good. Acceleration.. make it so that the player starts off slow and gets faster.. like a real racer does. Change the sound that is made when the player crashes into a wall.. it's too JKish... I also think it'll be better if the racer was selected at the skin selection screen. 7/10

Why would it be better to select at player setup? Think about in actual level packs - Wouldn't it be nice to be able to change your racer with each new race?

A remnant of Swoop death match, Bri. The cogs support death match levels in which you can be a human or a swoop.

I'm not sure what causes this or a work around from it, but having the swoop attach to the ground was need to fix a weird bug that happened when going across adjoins. Even if the surface transition was completely flat, some adjoins would cause the swoop to, more or less, bounce. It would be like hitting a very steep incline. You get slowed down tremendously, and shot up in the air. It kinda gets annoying when flying towards big rock archways that you randomly get boucned up into. Due to this need to attach to the ground, if jump would be disabled, the racers couldn't leave the ground unless the ground left them.

Banking: Not sure about this.. I know theres a flag for bank when turn, but that only affects strafing, and if you look, that is in Swoop. As for banking on turns, I don't think we could find a way to make a believable bank that kind of slides in and out of the bank according to how much into a turn you are.

Racer selection: Why do it at the selection screen? Then you'd have to quit the game to change your racer. And the character selection screen I don't believe supports 16 bit mats, which the racers use extensively.

8-bit: I'm pretty sure a lot of that .mats used would never work under the same .cmp, unless we very very carefully made our own .cmp. You have to take ease into account every once in a while. So I don't you should plan on an 8-bit patch being released.

Slug covered the skins... there IS a Swoop Arena section of the mod that so far is unused, where people could fight in a Swoop or as a person, thus the new skins.

Tazz: If you hit the wall hard enough...

Hopefully we'll get some more tracks coming out down the line...

I've been waiting for this for a long time.....and was disappointed.

A brilliant idea, well executed, but why did they have to ruin it with 16-bit mats?

I think we decided that the freedom added with 16 bit mats was an extremely great advantage, especially as the number of people with 3d accelerators (that do JK 16bit mats) increases. The swoops definitely would not look like they do were we to use a cmp.

If you don't have a 3d card, go out and buy one.. you can get one that supports 16-bit mats in JK for $20-25 (TNT2). What do you plan to do, play 8-bit JK for the rest of your life?

I found the secret racer, lol, very nice swoop hehe. I won't give it away for everyone but lets just say his weapon is quite nice :-) Awesome mod, I gave it a 10/10, the secret was very nicely done too.

20-25 dollars? Where? And my problem is, I was given a Voodoo 3, but it is AGP. Most 3dfx cards are AGP anymore, and my board doesn't have an AGP slot.

It's strange, though. I can use 16-Bit textures in Unreal Tournament, but not JK. I don't get it.

I have a 3d accelerator. I can play games like rogue spear, delta force: land warrior,and NHL2001. I guess my card just doesn't support 16-bit mats. But who cares if they don't look the best. The beta was fine, and it had only 8-bit mats

Awesome MOD!!! I would have liked to have seen more firepower, but with that said, look what you did! Took FPS and turned it into a racing game! That's just awesome. Great mod, loads of fun. Can't wait to find that secret swoop, and can't wait for more levels to be released!

And, my VooDoo3 plays the 16 bit mats beautifully, some times it just pays to have better machines... I feel bad for those who don't... but they're gonna HAVE to upgrade if they want to play Outcast (heck, I have to upgrade to play Outcast once it comes out)

Keep up the good work guys! 9/10

i gave this a 9,but it still needs work. personally i thought the track was to narrow. i think you should make more tracks that are big and open so you can actually race. another thing was the health. i thought that the swoops didn't have enough to start with and with the narrow track i found that i died....alot but, i did like how the shield thing on the HUD was made into a speedometer that was cool

Good, but appears rushed (due to some of the animations I crave and fun noises). Also, I appreciate you not using gay little 8-bit textures and stuff. This way I really get to put my ATI Rage 128 into action ;). One track tho? Better release some more QUICK!!!!! Or else the mod will die.

I had no idea Speedo was supposed to be secret, he's really easy to find.

Oh, and the track is a bit narrow. When I make mine it will be much wider.

I guess this is due to 16 bit mats and my 3d card not supporting them...but everytime i try to play the mod all the textures are in rainbow colors and my computer freezes up..any elts having this problem? Anyway really nice mod. I gave it a 9 because out of the small gameplay i got i could tell this was a total mark in histroy for JK mods to follow!

Please make it in 8-bit mats. And before you say, go out and buy a better graphics/video card, I would, but dont have the money, mine is for some reason stuck to the motherboard, and before I can upgrade the card, I need to get a new motherboard. Very hard to get enough money when you are 15. Please release an 8-bit version, this mod sounds really cool, but I wont be able to run it, so im not even gonna waste the time downloading a 16-bit level/mod.

DarkJediPro: Mine does that aswell with levels that have 16-bit mats.

Pic, your problem is my problem.

I've GOT a 3D card, but 16-bit mats just don't work for me. I have no problems with any other games. I've installed/uninstalled more demos than I can remember, and not one has ever had a problem.

What I'm saying is this: 16-bits might be the wave of the future, but everyone with JK can still use 8-bits. It just makes it more accessable to everyone.

you dida good job i admit, but very quickly this became old. You should release the old swoop levels they were much funner. They didnt look as good but by far they were much more fun. I am also interested in that Swoop SDK to make my own track. That would be swell. But other than the one level and the lack of sound. great job

I won't have time to start working on the TDK (track developing kit) until probably next week.....this week is hectic, with the school talent show coming up and all. Need to sort out what cogs to include, need to write up a tutorial, etc. So, it's coming, just maybe not really soon.

meh, i am not very impressed really, sortof expected more from you guys. its like the same thing as the beta with good models, they still dont have the right feel to them, its more like the fly cheat in SP and a small race course.

when i think of swoops i think of the ones in shadows of the empire, those were fun. these look great and all, but they dont feel like a swoop.

It was a cool idea but I think it could have been developed more.

he he he, the mod kicks! When I get bored doing other things: i turn to the swoop mod! I like the speeder bike best.

I give it a 9 because theres only 1 lvl, but its good, the sounds could use some improvement, BUT it would kick loads if you had bots!!

It was ok because it was a complete conversion i give a 5 but it needed sound and was kinda buggy
