Description

"Life is not black and white, but shades of gray..."

This is the premise behind my small, 8-player Sabers Deathmatch. I made this level in a very short ammount of time, not as a showcase of talent, but as an artistically unique level which could be quickly downloaded on dial-up, and did not require a great deal of complexity. As simple as this level is, I hope people find enjoyment in its straightforward gameplay and creative symbolism.

I gave this level a 6 in my view. For a few reasons. One, the super shield, in any good saber dueling/ffa level is not needed, as all it takes is one SS nut to hog it every time and think it's funny.

Two, it's not hard at all to get the SS in this level, as all one has to do is a simple running strafe jump, exactly the same way you jump the cliff in BGJ. Three, the stairs, while nice looking, were hard to walk up as I often found myself being stuck or not moving up those steps at certain angles.

Also, with the pit in the middle, there's not much room at all for 8 players to duel/ffa in this.

Beautiful.... you took me completely by surprise with this one. I love the simplicity. Who the hell needs textures?

Seriously, I gave it an 8, for what it was. The stairs are beautiful, but they are hard to walk on.... plus the supershield was way too easy to get, you don't even need to strafe jump.... and do you really think you'd want 8 dudes in that little er-- place?

Keep it up.... I look forward to many more.

Well the snapshots look creative and I guess this is one of those levels U don't have to have textures. looks like fun for sabers tho I'll download it when I have free time :) 8D xP

I like the staircase and good use of lighting to give depth to the map, but the problem with the Super Shield, as Sloan suggested, is unless the game has all eight players, it distracts from gameplay as someone's bound to camp it in a small game and be invincible most of the time.

Some health or bacta would have been a better choice, as it adds health (NEVER shields in a saber map) rather than invincibility, so the person who grabs it still has to use skill to win as he can still be defeated by a skilled opponent.

You did not earn any points for item placement or fluency of gameplay (both because of the shield). Other than that, I like the concept and creativity. I rate this 8

[edit] Actually, I don't particularly care for the concept of two surges per alignment.. there perhaps one of each would have been best about where the shield is. [/edit]

Awesome work, very cool lighting... I loved how the place lights up when saberduelling. Very cool idea, looks great. We played sbx, so the supershield becomes a sith talisman that eats your force if you jump over the pit - actually quite fun.

I wished only for two things:

- revive/armor (So both duellists can start with the same stats and have a fair duel)
- a safe place for observation

Other than that, great job. I'd like to see more stuff like this. Less is more!

9/10

Kudos for lighting, mood, and ambition. Not many levels can realistically call for eight players. However, this level is obsessively symmetrical, and as others have already stated, lacks gameplay value.

For what it lacks in colorful scenery, it gains in nice design and dynamic lighting. Not bad!

I'm not sure if it's just me but has anyone else noticed that massassi hasn't had anything new for 4 months?

Sometimes I find myself crying at night... Because I feel that the unity of JK was battered and broken when the Zone Rooms died.. We have to take care of each other from now on. **Sniffle**

It's nice to see people still posting comments in 2005 apart from meh, excellent level, my mates really enjoyed it 7/10
It was good in the fact that you could use a grappling hook and hide out for a while and also hiding under the stairs, i liked the way there was only grey and black, but i agree with the above, invincibility is easy on this map, keep the eyes on the prize, eyes on the prize.
