The Massassi Temple » Files » Jedi Knight Single Player Level
This is a medium-sized level based on Barons Hed. You are escaping from Jerec's troops, whom after his death, are after you. Your ship is at the hangar, and the battle will be deadly.Screenshots:
|Jipe||Posted: 10/29/00 17:53 Report AbuseWell, as I loaded up this level, I had my doubts. This was the author's first level, and it showed, but NOT as much as I thought it would. The annoying cantina music was there (almost everywhere, in the many bars placed around the small portion of Baron's Hed (everyone must be drunk :P ). The ammo was plentiful, as mentioned, but placed in spots that didn't make a ton of sense, as some weird sector tins testified. Several secret areas were easy to get to, and easily seen. There were two, however, that impressed me with location and format. Architecture was mostly boxes, as stated by the author, although for a first try the layout was nice.. not just box connected to box in a straight line.. had a little variety here and there. Enemies were bunched a lot together (I remember a room with tons of health/shield powerups - one of the only major stockpoints of the mostly otherwise barren level (for shields/health), and I was thinking, "What do I need this for?" A little ways down I ran into like 5 stormtroopers, 3 auto-turrets, 2 AT-STs and 2 probe droids. Remember, more is not always better. You want to challenge the player, but not too much! :)
Overall, I'd give this level around a 4.. Keep working, especially on SP levels - I love SP levels, and I even enjoyed this one for the 5-10 minutes I played it. Work on your architecture and weapons placement, I'll look forward to your next one.
|Rhettman||Posted: 10/30/00 03:26 Report AbuseNEVER release your 1st level!
It's for practice purposes only.
Sorry, but this just doesn't seem to get mentioned enough.
I gave this one a 2 instead of a 1 because there was no HOM, or obvious bugs.
Keep editing, but try to emulate good levels.
|meloman234||Posted: 10/30/00 15:10 Report AbuseHey, those screen shots look pretty good. Looks and sounds like a good level. I like the idea of having a level after the game, so to speak. If you chose the dark side, you get to see an awesome cutscene. If not, sucks ta be you I guess. This was a good idea, I think so anyway. And for a first level I'm suprised. Most first one's suck bad. And, yeah, most people say not to release your first one, but then again, I bet their first levels didn't look like this one! Did they!?! :-) Keep it up man, it's a hard life ain't it? (Editing that is) Well, Great Job, Peace out.
|SlingsRat||Posted: 11/01/00 03:12 Report AbuseAn ambitious level for a first attempt plagued by the usual problems. Door HOMing, Wafer thin floors, wrongly flagged surfaces (sky in this level). The Cantinaband wav was WAY over used. Architecture was good but thing placement a little odd. Beds in a bar? What were you implying by this?
Oh BTW, use "minichair3" not "chair3", it is a better size.
|SlingsRat||Posted: 11/01/00 22:30 Report AbuseOh yeah, one more thing. You have to collect the key to get the Crow which is "locked up". In fact it is not locked up at all and the key is not needed.|
|Phil C||Posted: 11/02/00 21:33 Report AbuseThe level was OK because the lay-out was great but the concentration of enemies went wrong!!! It is quite bare until the last room in which is crammed to its maximum capacity. The cantinas were pretty good but oo many pedestrians and not enough enemies (exception to last room!!!).
|Gorkos||Posted: 11/03/00 14:33 Report AbuseFor a 1st level it's pretty good. Pretty easy, though, and the concentration of enemies in the last room was quite a surprise...
Just never play this level with a saber...
|GoL_CG_roobarb||Posted: 03/29/01 00:08 Report Abusenot bad for a first attempt, but like all first attempts, it flows like a brick wall. coming up against an entire battalion hiding behind the next corner certainly supprised me, but i enjoy crazee frag-fests, so i enjoyed this level. more of a stress-relief aid than a challenged SP level, but i liked it. a good first level.|
|Dice_Ibegon||Posted: 09/16/01 19:49 Report Abuseboff...too short and not really realistic. Nice try thought, if its your first level than gj, you have potential.|
|sprok1234||Posted: 09/21/01 10:30 Report AbuseWell for its size its ok.The level is bigger then youd think it would be.By the way, very small impirial base |
|Dark_Jedi_Yun||Posted: 03/10/02 05:02 Report AbuseI had soooo much fun with this level! I had quite a challenge, and I loved it!|
|Force master2||Posted: 05/04/03 19:00 Report Abusethis is good for beginners to the game... and there's that big fight at the end... find ye olde hidden shoppe and get whatever you can
7/10 - playable... to some extent
|Connemara||Posted: 08/29/03 02:58 Report AbuseI give it a six. I actually liked the ending, it was a big surprise, and that was cool. Good idea, sticking all those troops and stuff at the end, I was strolling along, thinking, "Boy, is this easy", then *Bam* there was death staring me in the face!
However, there wasn't much storyline...it was a good idea...ya shoulda expanded on it more. However, I did enjoy the level, the main problem was it was too short without enough twists and turns. The ending was the only really remarkable part.
|cb||Posted: 12/08/04 16:37 Report AbuseVery good for a first level. How did the editor get it to have such a small file size? Perfect for internet users with older modems. It was actually the first JK level I downloaded, and I liked it. The end was pretty simple, just don't storm the enemy. You may have big guns, but they have dozens of big guns! Boom!|
