This is my first map for JO. It is just a small hangar for dueling in.Screenshots:
|master_thomas||Posted: 03/30/03 16:23 Report AbuseFrom the screenshots, it looks really good. Nice detail in the hallway. I may download it later|
|Dentian||Posted: 03/30/03 16:47 Report AbuseFor a first level, this is very nice. Keep up the good work.|
|LeHah||Posted: 03/30/03 18:13 Report AbuseSolid effort. Esp good considering it's your first map. I look forward to seeing more.|
|saberopus||Posted: 03/30/03 21:16 Report Abuseok gman, you stand right there, and I'm gonna CHOP YOU IN HALF! :)
Looks quite nice....sorta like the deathstar hangar, yet moodier.
Btw, are you using shaders for the lighting?
|gman||Posted: 03/30/03 22:05 Report AbuseWell, yes, I did use shaders to light it up. I've been making maps for counter-strike for a while, and I'm used to having the textures light up the map instead of light entities, I personally think it looks much better.
Another thing, sorry I don't have bot support. When I made this map, I was completely clueless as to how to do this. And I really didn't think about it when I submitted the map. I just recently learned how to add bot support, and I might submit an updated version to Massassi.
|Darth_Dk2||Posted: 03/31/03 11:02 Report Abusenothing specile here, not worth getting, ------4.8-----|
|[US]Silenced_Fury||Posted: 03/31/03 14:00 Report Abuselol @ Darth_Dk2. I think youre out-numbered. This is a great level, especially for a first. It is at least as good as JK2's original MP levels. -=9=-|
|gammasts||Posted: 04/03/03 13:46 Report AbuseYou do know that the Original JK2 levels weren't so good to begin with.
This map just didn't have the kick it really needed. A switch to blow out the whole room by turning off the force field, could give it a little.
]6[ Nice Archi, More Detail
|gman||Posted: 04/03/03 22:14 Report AbuseThat would have been interesting. But I'm not really into anything like that. If I would've made a switch to lower the forcefield and blow out the whole room, the game just becomes a race for the button, and the actual dueling takes a back seat. I'm not saying that would be the case all the time, but I could imagine it happening quite a bit.
As for the detail, I'm always concentrating more on the layout of the map rather than the looks. Detail is my second priority. Alot of maps I've played look awesome, but they're not that fun to play. And there are maps that don't look so hot, but they're a hell of a lot more fun. So this is what I try to accomplish, so sometimes I don't give to much though to the details.
And the layout of this map wasn't that great, but it was my first time ever working with a Radiant editor, so it was more of a warmup.
