Description

This is a Yavin-themed multi-player level taking place in the swamp a little after dusk. It supports CTF, CTY, FFA, Team FFA, Holocron FFA, and Jedi Master. The map features several elements that add interesting strategies to team games, especially in CTF. Look for the underwater entrance to each team's side, and for the cave behind the waterfall. This map includes custom shaders, a custom sky, and a custom effect.

This is an update to a level I released last year (but was unable to get on this website then). I had comments that it was too dark, so that is the main fix. I hope to make a variation of this for Jedi Academy when it comes out. Please let me know what you think of the atmosphere!

This is one of the best maps I've ever seen. There are so many good things about this map:
-The skybox and custom textures are great. The fog shader was utilized perfectly.
-Nice job with the sniper's post. I'm not big on sniping, but I think in this case, sniping can actually be a worthwhile endeavor.
-Making the bases different was a nice touch. Most great CTF maps are ones that aren't perfectly symmetrical. Those are the ones that in my opinion add more to the gameplay and strategy.
-Nice item placement.
-Very nice special effects, and a great job of using the Yavin theme.

There are a couple of minor errors (in my opinion):
-I do think light plays a major factor in the gameplay of this level. Unless you spend a lot of time memorizing this level and learning all the paths and item spots, a player can have a difficult time finding his way around the map. All I can really see are the other players. But I guess that's a sacrifice made to create the feel of dawn.
-I think the base entrances are too easily defended, especially with the drop-able turrets located so close to the entrance. You can just drop one or two right down in front of the passageway, and that can pretty much take care of your base. With the absence of light, I think the underwater passageway is hard to find and easy to defend against as well.

Overall, I give this map a 9. If you can deal with the light issues, it actually can turn into some really nice games. Sorry about typing so much (that's a problem of mine) and please realize that I like this map a whole lot more than I dislike it. That would be a cool if you updated this map into Jedi Academy when the game releases. And to think, this great map is available at only 1.5 MB. That takes talent...
