Massassi Files Server Update - Brian @ 12:55 PM
Well, I finally got some real information on the status of the file server. Apparently they moved the files server to a dedicated "files" machine almost two weeks ago. Then the server crashed and burned, and they are in the process of rebuilding it (apparently no files were lost). Word is the new server will be operational tomorrow, but it could take a few days for the DNS entries to propagate.

Massassi Files Back Up (not) - Brian @ 1:00 PM
Update: It appears to be down again. This is really getting annoying.

Well, the files server is back up. Thanks to CoolMatty for noticing. We apologize for the delay, but there was really nothing we can do about it. Thanks to Recon Gamer for fixing it up for us.

CoolMatty: In addition, as soon as the last people finish using the backup server, I will be taking it down, and synching it with the server. So, if you have a file in download, finish it up, and disconnect. (Or just restart the download from Massassi, which is quicker) Thanks.

Republic Commando - Brian @ 10:19 PM
Mr. Alias pointed out that LucasArts has released a press release regarding an upcoming PC/XBox game: Republic Commando.
Enter the dark military side of the Star Wars® universe as a squad leader of a Republic Special Operations unit. You are a Republic Commando. You must infiltrate deep behind enemy lines and lead your elite team on precision operations – lurking in the shadows, striking at will...
The theme and the screenshots look absolutely amazing. I am really looking forward to this game. The press release says that the game is being developed internally by LucasArts (not farmed out to a separate developer like Jedi Outcast/Academy). Let's hope they deliver another classic like Jedi Knight. Estimated release date: Fall 2004.
Massassi Backup... Again... - Cool Matty @ 10:15 AM
Due to the extended downtime, I've restarted the backup server. All previous rules still apply:

  • Only 2 connections per computer/IP - Additional Connections will be denied
  • No directory downloads, such as downloading the entire JO MP directory - FTP Bannable offense
  • Remember, this server is for everyone. Don't abuse it.

Also, some additional information:
The files on the FTP are totally up to date, containing every single level we have in our database. I was lucky to resynchronize the backup while the server was online. So anything within the past month is available now.

To visit the backup server, click here.

Massassi Fileserver online - Cool Matty @ 6:59 PM
For now...
No word yet on why it went down again, all I know is it seems to be staying up now, at least for the moment. I won't be taking the backup server down for a day or so until I am certain it is staying up, but it is safe to assume the file server is now back, again.
More Fun Server Problems - Cool Matty @ 1:52 PM
Since the server is down again, we're back to the backup server.
We'll try to find out how long these intermittent outages will last, and will bring it back when we are almost positive of extended server uptime. Until then, enjoy the backup server some more, or waste yout time in the forums. And yes, it aggravates us as much as you.

Thanks for your patience.

Out With The Old, In With The New - mscbuck @ 8:12 PM
You may have noticed that the Religious Forum is gone. Not to go into too much detail, but the admins decided that this would be better for the general community.

Secondly, we have a new forum, called Music Discussion and Showcase. Most everybody thought this was long overdue, so we finally caved in and made it. We hope you enjoy this.

New Battlefront Preview Article - DSettahr @ 3:56 AM
Gamespot has posted a new Battlefront Preview Article that includes some new information about the game as well as 3 new screen shots. For those of you who have not heard of it yet, Battlefront is a new Star Wars game that is entirely Multiplayer, with teamplay-based combat. Players can choose to be Imperials or Rebels for original trilogy themed maps, or members of the Republic or the Seperatists for the prequel trilogy themed maps. (Think of it as a Star Wars version of Battlefield 1942.) The game is currently slated for a Fall 2004 release.

UPDATE: Gamespot has also posted a Planet Guide that details two of the locations that will be featured in Battlefront, Yavin IV and Naboo. The article also includes links to video clips of these two locations.

GameSpy's Title Fight - DSettahr @ 1:55 PM
GameSpy has started a competition of sorts called Title Fight! The Ultimate Gaming Grudge. The objective is, through popular voting, to determine the best games ever in a wide variety of genres. Interestingly enough, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, and TIE Fighter both made it through the qualifying round of votes and into the Official Bracket (Scroll down to the 'Abandoned Base' and the 'Black Mesa' Brackets). Everyone should check it out, and vote for their favorite games, especially on March 3rd, when Marek Steele goes up against Mechwarrior 2's Timberwolf, and March 4th, when Kyle Katarn goes up against Half-Life's Gordan Freeman.

Original Trilogy DVD Packaging Revealed? - DSettahr @ 6:08 AM
Normally, we try to stick mainly to posting news about Star Wars games, but this is just too cool to not give a news item about. It would appear that KamuiWeb has managed to find pictures of the packaging for the Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD's, which are slated to be released this fall. There will apparently be 3 different available packages, "The Final Conflict," "Jedi vs. Darkside," and "The Imperial Collection." The site is in French, but you should have no trouble viewing the pictures.

UPDATE: It would appear that the site has been taken down due to the traffic. If anyone has any copies of the pictures, I'd appreciate it if they'd email them to me. Thanks.

UPDATE: The pictures are back up again, on a much less bandwidth intensive page.
