New MotS Multiplayer Level: ZAW Homebase - Juztyn @ 12:58 PM
File: ZAW Homebase
Author: Stawzie
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This level was created by the great Stawzie, but since he has vanished from the JK scene, I have submitted this level in memory of him. This level consists of a large outdoor area with multiple ways to get to the center courtyard. A large elevator leads to an upper control area where some wonderfully unique new cogs can be found. A very playable level for 3 or more players.
Star Trek TC Contest Expiring - darkjedi86 @ 1:01 PM
The Star Trek TC sends word that their contest is almost to an end. They have received some great levels, and they would like to remind all the editors that time is almost up (you have three more days from today). The winning levels will be featured in a level pack. This sounds pretty promising, and I'm looking forward to downloading the pack. For rules and more details, head on over to the site.

File: KzE Headquarters

New Jedi Knight Mod: Crazy Monkey Mod - Kedri @ 5:43 PM
File: Crazy Monkey Mod
Author: Ztok32
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This mod for JK will turn you into Crazy Monkey for SP. Crazy Monkey is... well... a monkey, who is crazy. He is a small (Yoda-sized) monkey. He has an orange saber instead of a green lightsaber. Some small weapons modifications were made. This is for SP mostly. The reason it's so large is because I had to make over 85 custom keys. Have fun being a crazy monkey!
New MotS Multiplayer Level: NBK Baby! - Kedri @ 5:54 PM
File: NBK Baby!
Author: PennyO and Suffo
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2

New Jedi Knight Mod: Arsenal v 1.0 - Kedri @ 6:02 PM
File: Arsenal v 1.0
Author: Chad
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This mod is the first one I have made. It changes all guns except thermals and the saber. I have also added new keys (a flip, new idle sequences, and a cool stormtrooper death) and new COGs that give you unlimited use of Force Jump, Seeing, Pull and Speed. There are some mistakes I know, and I would enjoy making another patch like this so please e-mail me any tips or suggestions you have.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: U.S.S. Dauntless - Kedri @ 6:11 PM
File: U.S.S. Dauntless
Author: Sven Solo
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: After a relaxing break on the holodeck, you discover everybody is gone. Then suddenly the computervoice blows out of the speakers "Intruder alert!"

The scene is set on one of the first starships launched by the Federation (Star Trek). On his first test flight something went wrong and intruders from another galaxy, far, far away, penetrated this ship to fight their battles.

It's not a really action-packed level, cause there are not many big open rooms to slay your opponents, but it could be fine to make some action. This level was designed to match the Federation ships, but it didn't come out the way I intended it; no, it's even better because I like the setting of older ships which drift in unknown space, and since older ships have more malfunctions, it's rather fun.

This is my first level and I think I didn't do a bad job. The level is set for 2-6 players (cause playing alone sucks, excuse me). It can be played with both sabers and blasters, etc.

Note 1: these old starships weren't build as well as the Enterprise or the Voyager, or others, so don't look suprised if you find the warpcore in front of the bridge, which doesn't appear in the newer types (Security reasons? You hardly notice it).

Note 2: There aren't many much weapons, but enough to blast your opponents to pieces, haha, hmmm...

File: Gravity Rooms of Drataria
Author: JKM_Jatrosh
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2

New Jedi Knight CTF Level: Team Fusion CTF Pack - Kedri @ 10:27 AM
File: Team Fusion CTF Pack

Description: The Team Fusion CTF pack contains two new Capture the Flag levels. Fusion is a large CTF level that requires solid teamplay and is best suited for 6 players. It's a mixture of tight tunnels and open areas, so both stealth and a steady offense are required. Coret is medium-sized CTF level. It's a recreation of the Coret Facility from Unreal Tournament. As such, the gameplay is fast and 4-6 players are recommended.

My father is in the hospital right now, so please keep him in your prayers.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: The Big City - Kedri @ 4:16 PM
File: The Big City
Author: ELD_PX_Karandas
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is quite a small level, set in the capital city of a low-gravity moon. It has four towers to climb and fight in, plus one or two secrets. Although this level isn't much to look at, the gameplay can be rewarding; I wouldn't recommend sabering, however. Take it easy on the criticisms, because this is my first level.
New MotS Multiplayer Level: The Kanos Manor - Kedri @ 4:27 PM
File: The Kanos Manor
Author: KirKanos_BHG
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2

Saturday, July 8, 2000

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Podracer Hangar - Kedri @ 8:08 PM
File: Podracer Hangar
Author: Sven Solo
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a Podracer hangar (as the title shows). It's a hangar with a testing course (a rather small testingcourse, because I couldn't make it too big, so it's for engine testing only, not for speed testing!) all owned by Watto. The planet isn't far from Tatooine, but what's the use of that information right?

The level isn't that big, but it has some suprises, good for both guns and sabers. 2-6 people. You will also hear the Boonta Eve Classic Live (just some wave files, played random, don't mind too much, sometimes the same wave is played after each other, which gives a rather strange experience; just something funny, ok?).
New Jedi Knight Mod: Daiken v.4 Beta - Kedri @ 8:19 AM
File: Daiken v.4 Beta
Author: Shogo_Tenchi
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: You will possess three secondary fire swings. The three swings are accessed depending on which directional button you are pushing while using secondary fire. This mod was created so it gives more of a variety to saber fighting, since I noticed most people only use the existing secondary fire swings, and it gets dull always doing the same things.

File: Rebel Base on Yurs IV (Co-op)
Author: Dipstick
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Weapon of Mass Destruction - Kedri @ 8:36 AM
File: Weapon of Mass Destruction
Author: Naythn
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A fairly small level with good aesthetics that should provide some fast-paced gameplay. This level would be very interesting with MODs that have a grappling hook.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: The Temple on Fertile Ground - Kedri @ 8:40 AM
File: The Temple on Fertile Ground
Author: Naythn
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A temple with some really neat mountains surrounding it. Also features candles, a large dome, and swinging doors.
New MotS Multiplayer Level: Fight Room - Kedri @ 8:44 AM
File: Fight Room
Author: Drew Gaylo
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a small multiplayer level more or less for one-on-one play. It consists of one main area with a ring hall around it. From the halls players can enter many rooms, including a hidden sniper position. There is also a catwalk/walkway above the main room which is designed for saber dueling. The level will surely provide some quick and dirty deathmatches.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Star Wars: Locations - Kedri @ 9:53 AM
File: Star Wars: Locations
Author: Jensyx
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A set of Multiplayer levels, based on some of the less seen Star Wars universe:

Docking Bay 94 is an arena level, with lots of Force and guns. Lots of vent shafts.

Ben Kenobi's is more of a guns level, popping up to blow your opponent away and duck for cover.

TIE Interior, is, ahh, a thing of mine. It's got room for two, and two guns. Blast each other. Press the control panel as well.

AT-AT Walker is fun. All the walls are magsealed so blast away with the ST Rifle with the powerup and watch 'em richochet!

ISD Hanger is a large, open, guns 'n force level. It is lower gravity and there are lots of sloped walls to pound yourself off of.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Nightmare Court - Kedri @ 10:04 AM
File: Nightmare Court
Author: Baltezar
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This eerie castle lets off a foul stench as you enter its hallways. A sense of fear enters your soul and feeds on your every thought. Survive if you can, for you are in Nightmare Court.
New Jedi Knight Mod: Bill Clinton Skin - Kedri @ 12:57 PM
File: Bill Clinton Skin
Author: ¥oda
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: JoF Temple: Reborn - Kedri @ 1:05 PM
File: JoF Temple: Reborn
Author: JoF_ThunderWolf
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This level takes place deep within a canyon type of area. The atmosphere is dark and stormy, complete with thunder and lightning (the lightning does damage upon contact). The temple is located across the bridge, and inside is a treacherous trap (if you can locate it) and a deadly pitfall. There are ways down to the bottom of the canyon, so you can carry an adrenaline-pumped battle down at the bottom. The level is set up for 4 players, and it's all guns, so saberists will not have a chance of survival. A good 3D accelerator is highly recommended!

Sorry!! - Jepman @ 9:31 AM
Well I would like to apologize if this week I skipped Level of the Week update... but the fact that my dad had a heart attack and went to the hospital. That just threw me off the schedule, but I will be updating it this week.

New Jedi Knight Mod: Walk on Walls (WoW) - Kedri @ 7:15 PM
File: Walk on Walls (WoW)
Author: Mandalorian Editing Alliance
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Walk on walls, or Wow, as it's fondly known, is a modification to provide a distinct gameplay style. It has many features that enhance the original JK formula. It includes two new Force powers (Force Super Seeing and Force Repel), a powerful grappling hook, three new weapons (shotgun with ejecting cartridges sniper rifle with red eye scope and a concussion rail gun with powerful, instant kill shots), eight new skins (including System Overrides much acclaimed Xenomorph and Elcors wizard skins), random startup surprises (Just listen out for Obi-Wan and you're in for a treat!), and a few hidden surprises.

This mod also includes new movements, including the ability to crawl along on your belly and perform some acrobatic feats. Oh, and you can also walk on walls.
New Jedi Knight Mod: Super Skins - Kedri @ 7:21 PM
File: Super Skins
Author: bugarBrain
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is my first ever addon for JK: it is a collection of about thirty cool skins I found around the Internet. I decided to put them into one big Mod so that more people would be able to enjoy them and play them, rather than finding and downloading each individual skin. You'll need Patch Commander to be able to use this Mod. I also take no credit for making any of the skins in this Mod; I only take credit for assembling the Mod.
New Jedi Knight Mod: Sab 1.0 - Kedri @ 7:27 PM
File: Sab 1.0
Author: OLJ_Mrreg Gamont
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This Mod changes the color of some of the basic sabers, and provides a glassy effect, which is especially noticeable in first-person view. I also added a custom "Dark Saber." Expect more versions in the future.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Qow Y Nok's Fortress - Kedri @ 7:38 PM
File: Qow Y Nok's Fortress
Author: SR_AerBLASTER
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A somewhat small multiplayer level. It is set in the top of a Sith lord's fortress. Crammed with weapons. Be aware of a strange glitch in lighting - 3DOs and player models sometimes appear to be darker than normal.
Glowsaber 3 Released - Jepman @ 1:51 AM
Van, from the Glowsaber production staff, announced to me a few minutes ago on ICQ that they were finally releasing Glowsaber 3. This mod features an enhanced glow and (finally) the long-awaited "saber trail" effect. This mod now has software mode support, so you don't need to have a 3D accelerator card to run this.

I would like to note that I personally hated their earlier glows, but I got to beta test this baby, and let me tell you that it is a great mod, and the saber trails are marvelous. Try out! Get it at the Glowsaber Website.

Many thanks to Dustino, both for his patience and for submitting his tutorial to Massassi.

He also discusses a method on creating a good sword-mod-type thing. Everything you'll need is included in the accompanying zip file. Thanks as always to Jep for his sending in his tutorial.

Uck... - Juztyn @ 7:36 PM
This is starting to get scary. The 3 levels below are the only ones that were submitted properly out of 25 emails in the levels account. I'm beginning to think nobody ever reads the requirements for submitting levels. We NEED the following things in order to post your submission: Type of MOD/Level, Name of MOD/Level, Name of Author, Email of Author, Description of the MOD/Level, Two (2) screenshots, the level in GOB format and a readme similar to this one. If we don't have some (or any) of those, there's NO WAY we can post your level! It's the sad truth, but I found myself deleting more levels then I uploaded today. Please authors, it's not that hard to get a level posted here, so follow the rules, and make our job easier! :)

Note: There are actually 5 properly submitted levels that are still on the que, but I need to talk with other staff members regarding if they should be posted. I'll keep you updated.
Massassi Closing? - Brian @ 9:26 PM
There are a ton of posts on the forums saying that The Massassi Temple is closing. I just want to let everyone know that it's just a rumor. We are not closing, and I have no idea why someone would say that. We're getting more traffic than we ever have before, and every month it's going up.
Etc. - Brian @ 9:30 PM
As you may have read on the main page or the forums, I had to travel back up to Washington due to the fact that my father was in a very serious motorcycle accident. I would like to thank everyone that sent an email or posted a forum messages wishing us well. All your prayers and well wishing went a long way, as my father returned home a couple of days ago. He's doing well, considering the accident, but if you're interested in the details, please click here.

I will be returning to my home in CA this week, although a month after that I will be permanently moving back here to WA. Of course during this time my presence around here won't be too consistent, but I'll try to get in when I can.
Updates @ Bunghole Productions - darkjedi86 @ 6:59 AM

Revenge of the Classics - Juztyn @ 8:22 PM
I swear I didn't steal that headline from a recent issue of PC Gamer, I swear it!... Eh, anyway. I just thought I'd point out that the 5 levels posted below are CLASSICS. They represent some of the best and brightest authors from back when everyone was still trying to figure out which button did which in the deep bowls of the monster that was JED 0.5. I highly recommmend these levels to anyone who has any interest in Jedi Knight, and I hope they'll be reborn (and played more often on the Zone) due to their being posted here.

Note: Thanks to Scott Jungwirth for submitting them all. You da man!

Once Juztyn uploads the level correctly, please use that link so that Massassi gets the advertisement hits. But until then, you can go Here. I don't think they'll bust my chops too bad since the forum still has a link to their ads. Hope you guys like the level! Email me to let me know what you think. -Takimoto

The level is highly focused on gameplay, where it isn't always kill or be killed. The art of stealth is accentuated here, as using shadows and outcroppings are vital to your survival. The entire arena is made up of three levels, each one with it's strengths and weaknesses. The lower and main arena level is clad in a omnious shadow, allowing you to traverse the arena without detection. The second level is a sniper haven, where you can seek out those hoping to pass through the center arena and score major frag points. The third, and uppermost level, is a metal catwalk suspended above the sniper and main arena, where you can ambush uncautious enemies. This level is fast paced, and equal opportunity, with enough guns, ammo, and power ups to keep the fight going longer, stronger. Ideal for 4 players, perhaps slightly too large for only 2.

If you're interested, click the link above, or follow the "Chat" link in the sidebar (under Resources).

New Star Wars RPG - Brian @ 9:38 PM
Lucasarts announced today that they are developing a new role-playing game for PC and the next-generation consoles. I'd give you the scoop, but why not read the first part of the press release instead?
SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 25, 2000--LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC and BioWare Corp. today announced a partnership to create the first Star Wars® role playing game (RPG) for PC and next generation video game systems. Expected to release in 2002, the game will be set in a time period prior to the Star Wars films.

The agreement combines Star Wars, the most successful film-based license in interactive entertainment, with BioWare's considerable development expertise in the role playing genre. BioWare created the critical and commercial hit RPG Baldur's Gate(TM). The Star Wars role playing game will be developed by BioWare and marketed and distributed by LucasArts.

For the game, LucasArts and BioWare are creating an entirely original storyline set some four thousand years before Star Wars: Episode I. The ancient era is dominated by an epic struggle between the Jedi and the evil Sith.
Now when they say "create the first Star Wars® role playing game (RPG)" I'm assuming they don't consider Star Wars Online a role playing game? Sheesh.
Cogging Tutorial @ Millennium - Brian @ 12:57 AM
Hideki sends word that Millennium has updated with a new cogging tutorial entitled Techniques on Multiple Firing in Client Cogs. Now I'm not a cogger, but it seems to teach you how to use a more bandwidth friendly pulse method for cogs that work for more than one player (as opposed to normal pulses that can mess up your mod in MP).
More on the New RPG - Brian @ 3:23 AM
Gamespot has a small but interesting article on yesterday's announced Star Wars Role Playing game. Here's the most interesting part:
Set about four thousand years before Star Wars: Episode I, the game's story will focus on the ancient struggles between the Jedi and the evil Sith. Fans of the Dark Horse Sith series of comics will note that this period in Star Wars history has already been richly developed by the comic books. However, this game will have an entirely new story that currently does not involve any of the characters from the comic books. In this period, the Jedi Knights form a huge and far-reaching order that protects a multitude of planets in a vast republic, as well as unaffiliated, outlying systems. There is no monolithic evil overwhelming the galaxy, as in classic Star Wars, but the Sith, the predecessors of Darth Vadar and the Dark Jedi, are spreading their dark influence.

New Jedi Knight Mod: Al's Star Wars Skin Pack - Brian @ 5:10 AM
File: Al's Star Wars Skin Pack
Author: Al MacDonald
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: All 162 of Al MacDonald's Star Wars skins compiled into one pack by Kurgan (of Obi-WanKenobi.net).
Al MacDonald has been long admired in the JK Community for his marvelous Star Wars skins. Bar none, his seem to be the most detailed and/or overall cool looking, as many of us agree.

At one time in an online interview, he said that he didn't see himself creating a huge pack of all his skins, as it would be too unwieldy.

I figured that it was worth a try, and it goes together quite well. I added some sounds I found on the 'net and it was finished. I figure those who wish to use them for Multiplayer can. Al says he originally intended his skins for editing projects. This is one such editing project. ; )

The skins themselves should appear in the game, alphabetically, starting right after you scroll through the list of regular JK skins. There are 162 total, all related to the Star Wars universe.
[Editor's Note: This file was originally posted on JediKnight.net and JKMAG.]
Etc. - Brian @ 5:17 AM
Back online and into the swing of things. Now that everything at home has mostly cleared up and I've been able to get some rest, I should be more active around here. I am working pretty hard on a set of scripts for one of my other projects, PlanetVampire, but those should be done within another couple of days. After that I have a few more things planned for our levels section.

So you've sent me an email and haven't gotten a reply? I've got emails saved up for the last 4 weeks, and I will be going through those this week, so if your email warrants a reply, I should get to it soon. Note that if it's regarding the review site, you should email blujay, not me.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Training Complex - blujay @ 9:47 AM
File: Training Complex
Author: _Ayub_
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A pack with two levels, one for 2 players and another for 3 or 4 players. Medium size levels (people complain that my levels are too big, hehe). Enjoy... I'll probably do a saber level now.
Infiltrate! Update - blujay @ 10:13 AM
Oops! I just realized that when I posted Infiltrate! a few days ago, I did not include the expansion pack levels, I only included the original ones. I have re-uploaded Infiltrate!, and the new zip file includes the expansion pack level gob. This has the original three levels with a few changes, and four, not two, new levels.

So, you will need to redownload it in order to get the fixed levels and new ones. Please accept my apologies, but let me guarantee you that it is worth the (re)download.

New Reviewer - blujay @ 10:50 AM
I'd like to welcome SL_Ric_Olie to the review staff. Also, Rogue Leader has returned, so we now have five reviewers on-staff. I still have some applications to go through, and you will receive a yes/no reply, so if you haven't heard from me, that just means I haven't gotten to yours yet.

I should be back next Sunday night. I highly doubt I will be anywhere near a computer (it's a family reunion), so don't expect to see my pretty face online. I'm going to forward all of my mail to my @massassi.com address so I can check it as webmail (just in case), but I make no promises of answering or reading any mail at all. Before you get your hopes up, as with JkEdit, this new 3do editor is a trial version, as you have to pay a fee to use the full version. Anyway, on with the goods.

There is a new program called Jk3do 1.00 available at http://www.magicforce.com. This new product is created by Ole Thomasen, the creator of JkEdit and Wedit (Dark Forces editor). Here's the info straight from Ole himself:
Jk3do is the latest tool for creation of Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith custom 3do's. With Jk3do, you can create truly 3D objects, levering from sophisticated tools for creation of geometry sets, meshes, faces, and vertices.
