A Memorial - blujay @ 12:13 AM
I didn't know her at all hardly, but I did speak with her very briefly a few weeks back, and I just feel that I should do something. This morning, September 1, 2000, Joanne Hartley (aka Ysanne Isard online) died of cancer in her sleep. She was only 19. She collapsed a month ago, and doctors told her she had two months to live. But she only lived for one. I had no idea she was even ill until Mark Starbuck sent out an ICQ message saying she had passed away. My deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends. She was active in the Jedi Knight community, leading her own clan. In her ICQ user info was this quote that she billed as a "paragraph for life":
Face to face, out in the heat, hanging tough, staying hungry, they stack the odds til we take to the street for we kill with the skill to survive, its the eye of the tiger, its the cream of the fight, rising up to the challenge of our rival and the last known surviver stalks his prey in the night and he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger
Joanne Hartley (May 5, 1981 - September 1, 2000)

A Followup - blujay @ 11:38 PM
When I posted the memorial to Joanne Hartley late last night, I had forgotten what the name of her clan was. I was reminded tonight when I got an e-mail from MCMF_Hethrir. Her clan was the Jedi Knight division of the MCMF.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: HDK Gateway to Heck - Kedri @ 10:09 AM
File: HDK Gateway to Heck
Author: MetalJedi
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Can you imagine playing Canyon Oasis where nothing is as it seems? If you can, then you'll know what HDK Gateway to Heck is like. Everything in the level leaves a trail behind it and the level appears to be moving all the time, giving an eerie "alive" feel to it. Also, if you stay still you can see everywhere your opponent has moved, making for more tactical battles. I put plenty of ammo and powerups into the level and lowered the gravity so guns fights are really intense. This is my first released level on Massassi and is an official (H)eavy (D)uty (K)illers level. E-mail with bugs or suggestions.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: The Mos Espa RPG - Kedri @ 10:44 AM
File: The Mos Espa RPG
Author: Justin (Saber_Scorpion) Stebbins
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This level takes place in the streets of the Tatooine town of Mos Espa, during the days of Kyle Katarn. It is made for RPG. It was intended to be like Drazen Isle on Tatooine without the lag, with Barons Hed RPG type jobs, and a Dralloc Hotel feel. It turned out pretty well. Please keep in mind this is the first level I have ever released, even though I have worked on editing all of this year and some of last and worked on this particular level all summer! There is a police station with a jail, an Outlaw hideout, a Restaurant, a Cantina, a Med Center, a house, a hangar, a gun store, and a hotel. There is also a cool Air Shaft that surrounds the whole level and has lots of sniping spots along the way, so a skilled assassin can take out a few people. In addition to these, there are lots more secrets, which are listed in the SECRETS.txt file included in the zip file. This level is best played FF (with Force Jump), RPG, and with a SNIPING mod that gives you a scope, like Guns and Such or Killer's Weapons Patch. I hope I have written enough to get you to download the level now...

Level of the Week - Brian @ 10:05 PM
Barely got this one in on time. We have some great single player goodness this week. If you haven't played SavageX's ROTE series, better start downloading.
Have Lightsaber Will Travel? - darkjedi86 @ 4:05 PM
Ok, I'm going to try a different style of news posting this afternoon. What is in gray is from MikeC, the person who mailed this in, and the italics are comments from yours truly. Let's try this.
This probably isn't really newsworthy,--That's for sure.--but I thought I'd let you know anyway. Uh...cool. As ya'll may or may not have noticed, I started up a web page--Uh-oh.--to let people know about the progress on my levels. *shudder* It's called "Have Lightsaber Will Travel"--Is anyone else perplexed by this title?--(my long time sig... go figure) and it can be found at here. Cool. It's not very good,--No comment.--I know, but I'm still working on getting it to look better.

Anyway, what I really wanted to announce is that I have posted the background story for my next level, Stormtrooper:Vengeance, at the site.
Whew, after all that, you better go visit MikeC's site, Have Lightsaber Will Travel. :)
New Jedi Knight Mod: Endoe Collock Skin - Kedri @ 4:17 PM
File: Endoe Collock Skin
Author: Endoe Collock
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a skin of Endoe, Jedi Knight. I didn't GOB it because you would have to download patch commander to use it, and it's easier just to always have it on and use it when you can than to forget to turn it on and get a checksum error. This is going to be a skin in a skin pack I'm working on, and I just wanted to get some feedback on what people think about my amine-looking people idea. I didn't draw or shade much on the face, because I figured I'd let the game shade it for me and see what it looks like. I think it looks pretty good, it reminds me of people from Zelda: Ocarina of Time...

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Backup Base - Kedri @ 5:50 PM
File: Backup Base
Author: JG_Jiggajagga
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a rather small multiplayer level which represents a small backup base used by the Imperials as a last resort in every battle. Now it is abandoned since you have found it. I tried to make this level as lagless as possible. Yes, the textures, especially on the walls, are repetitive, but hey, the Imperials are never creative about the decoration of their bases now are they? I hope this level would be fun, at least for some... oh, and this is mainly a guns level.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Space Station Zero G - Kedri @ 6:02 PM
File: Space Station Zero G
Author: Dingydog
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is my first level ever, Space Station Zero G. Three weeks before this I didn't know what JED was, so be kind. There is a recreation area with a pool, a gym, and a Walk on Walls room, (first of its kind I think... trust me... it's FUN with WoW), a cafeteria and bathroom, and a military training room. There are six secrets. Enjoy!
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Duel Over Lava - Kedri @ 6:11 PM
File: Duel Over Lava
Author: Avatar
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This level involves a saber duel deep inside the catwalks of a volcano. Destruction bolts fire from the lava and from midair acting as lava blasts. This makes fighting here deadly. Only a skillful saberist can survive the heat and win over his opponent. This arena was meant for a Full Force game or No Force game.
Teeny Tiny News - darkjedi86 @ 6:18 PM
Need some custom textures done? Outpost D-34 announced its newest addition to the family this evening, Tiny Textures, which is a site that will do just that. They also have their first mat pack finished, which can be found at their download page. All in all, I'd say a trip to Tiny Textures would not be amiss.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: DeathShip - Kedri @ 6:36 PM
File: DeathShip
Author: DrummerMan
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: A small level inside the confines of some sort of spaceship. The level was designed for the sole purpose of being able to blast the crap out of whomever you're playing. The level does not have, however, a concussion rifle, or a rail detonator (sorry fans of dangerous weapons!). The level is small, so it should be played with 2 to 4 people.

Obi-Wan Interview - Brian @ 8:50 PM
Stomped.com has posted an interesting interview with Obi-Wan's lead programmer, Kevin Bruner. The interview talks a lot about engine features. This really looks to be a killer game. Here's a sample:
Stomped: Why was the decision made to create a new engine for Obi-Wan, rather than update the Jedi Knight engine or license an engine from another company?

Bruner: The RenderDroid engine has served us well for many games (Jedi-Knight, MOTS, Grim Fandango and Jones3D) but was starting to really show it's age. It lacked a lot of the features that people expect from today's games. We needed an engine that could render lush Episode 1 worlds in great detail, support complex saber fighting animations, and allow for really cool force power interaction with stuff in the world. There wasn't an engine that supported everything well, so we decided to start fresh. We also try to leverage our technology across as many games. The Obi-Wan engine is very modular, and pieces of it are already getting used in other LucasArts games. I'd love for the Tanis engine to contribute to as many great games as RenderDroid has. Plus making a new engine is a lot of fun!
Obi-Wan Level Designers Interview - Brandon @ 3:43 PM
Stomped.com has posted another interview in its Obi-Wan development team series. This time they interview Kevin Schmitt, the lead level designer, and Ryan Kaufman, a level designer who is also contributing to the story and script for Obi-Wan. Here's some of what they had to say:
Stomped: What is your single favorite moment in the game?

Kaufman: There's currently a glyph that Obi-Wan can do which is very sneaky and probably not very honorable from a Jedi standpoint. He quickly drops down and sweeps the saber out with his wrist, cutting his hapless victim off at the ankles. It's a whole lot of fun. Also, most of the acrobatics and jumping stunts are in, so you can forward-flip and roll up to an enemy, who's just totally confused by these physics-defying Force leaps, and whack him on the head before he knows what's going on. It's a pretty good approximation of the wild choreography from the Maul versus Qui-Gon versus Obi-Wan fight, and it's also a whole lotta fun for the whole family.

And the coolest part is, there's MORE animation to come!

Schmitt: Honestly, its the saber combat. I have been reading a lot of posts about the glyphs and how they will be difficult to master these. Let me tell you this, it is not that hard to master, and when you do, they create some really satisfying moments in the game. I was watching one the LDs play his level and he was rushed by some Sith Agents. They started taunting him and before one agent had time to finish his taunt, he had executed a glyph that made Obi lunge his saber into the agents chest cutting his taunt off quick.

New Jedi Knight Mod: Spider-Man Cinema Skin Pack: Spider-man & Green Goblin - Brian @ 1:08 PM
File: Spider-Man Cinema Skin Pack: Spider-man & Green Goblin
Author: KnightSpider
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: In the highly anticipated release of the Spider-Man Movie, here are the Spider-Man movie Jedi Knight Skins. These skins are directly based upon the recently released sketches of the costumes that may be used in the movie. The Spider-Man skin has enhanced force speed, jump, and punching strength. The bryar pistol is also replaced with a "Web Shooter". Yes, it is a hand held one , but it was the best I could do. Spidey can also flip forward, and does a backflip when you force jump backward. Green Goblin carries a sword and a staff that throws an energy blast. I like to call it the "Pumpkin Staff." He also has the stronger punch. You can also find all of my work at my web site: http://KnightSpider.50megs.com

Etc. - Brian @ 11:50 PM
Well Kedri is ultra busy this week with his job, and then when that settles down, he will be on vacation for a couple of weeks. He's one of our big level posters, so I'll be trying to take up the slack by posting levels on a regular basis for the next couple of weeks. Remember, when you submit your level, you must follow the submission instructions. If we get a level that doesn't have all the required information or files (readme, 2 screenshots, etc.), we cannot post it.

We've been having some problems on the forums lately, so the moderators are being extra strict. This especially applies to the "no insults" rule. Remember, we don't tolerate any form of verbal abuse - it's not needed or wanted. The forums are supposed to be fun, so please keep them that way.
New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Backup Base 1.1 - Brian @ 11:56 PM

New Jedi Knight Mod: SaberToggle3 - Brian @ 12:26 AM
File: SaberToggle3
Author: Yod
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Picture this. An enemy armed to the teeth sees a Jedi just standing there. The Jedi seems far too calm since he is unarmed. The enemy approaches and suddenly fires. Without warning the Jedi's lightsaber springs to life. He deflects the first shot sidesteps the second, force pulls the enemy's gun and then cuts down his opponent.

The saber can now be toggled on and off with a separate key (default "H"), and will also turn on if you swing it when it is off (thanks for the idea Matt).

Note: Since capturing screenshots of this mod in action is pretty pointless, don't bother clicking the screenshot links...

Obi-Wan Editor? - Brian @ 1:35 AM
If you haven't been keeping up with the latest news and information regarding Lucasarts upcoming action game, Obi-Wan, have no fear. We will be posting an Obi-Wan information section very shortly. We will also begin to cover Obi-Wan related news here on our main page. This will last until we decide exactly how we're going to cover Obi-Wan.

What do I mean by that? I mean that we haven't figured out whether we will integrate Obi-Wan resources into our current site, launch a new site on a subdomain, or find some other solution to the problem. Rest assured we are trying to figure out the best way, but if you have some input, feel free to email me.

Now onto the point of the post. There are several articles and interviews that say the Obi-Wan developers are using 3D Studio Max for designing Obi-Wan levels. 3DSMax is an extremely expensive program, and it certainly isn't available to the masses. We also know that a trimmed down version of 3DSMax will be released shortly, if it hasn't been already. Word on the street is that it's so trimmed down as to be useless for Obi-Wan editing.

In the past, freelance developers such as the Code Alliance have provided the Star Wars editing community (X-Wing series, Dark Forces series) with very useful programs to design levels and missions with (such as Jed). I'm wondering whether anyone has considered programming such an editor for Obi-Wan. I have no idea if Jed can be ported, or if brush based editors such as Radiant can be ported. I have no experience with such things, but I'm positive that many of our visitors do.

If you are planning on programming any type of editing utilities for Obi-Wan, be it a full fledged editor, some sort of viewer, or even a converter for Obi-Wan files, I would really like to get in contact with you. Perhaps we can get a team of devoted people together to get some sort of level editor released shortly after the game itself is released.

JediKnight.net announced that the Jedi Knight Archives has posted the 3rd in a series of JkEdit tutorials. For those of you that don't know, JkEdit is a Jedi Knight level editor that can be found (for a price) at http://www.magicforce.com/.
Level System Upgrade - Brian @ 2:23 AM
This morning I added a small feature to the level commenting and rating system that will hopefully make it less tedious to post comments and ratings. When you first try to rate or post a comment on a file, you will be prompted for your user name and password. After you enter it once, it will save it for you until you close out your browser completely. This means you will only have to type your user name and password once per "session" or visit to the system. Once you type it once, you can comment and rate on as many levels as you like until you close your browser. At that point, it will be deleted, so next time you show up, you'll have to type it once again.

For all your security-conscious folks, you will notice another two cookies being stored in your browser. These cookies are identical to the ones you'll find on our forums, as they're just a username/password combo. You will still be able to use the comment and rating systems even if you don't have cookies enabled in your browser, it's just a little bit more tedious.

The next thing to be added is a rating form that will sit along side the commenting form. This will allow you to rate a file at the same time you post a comment on a file, thus requiring less clicks. No guarantee on when this feature will be done, but rest assured, I am working on it.
Happy Birthday Jepman - Brian @ 2:33 AM
I just wanted to say Happy Birthday to my good friend Jepman. Today he turned 16. Jepman is the author of a few levels that can be found in our levels section, as well as about a billion projects that haven't been released yet. Perhaps they will during the next 16 years, eh? Everyone wish Jepman a Happy Birthday!

Obi-Wan Preorders - Brian @ 1:25 PM
Amazon.com and EBWorld.com are taking preorders for Obi-Wan. Amazon lists the release as March 15, 2001, and EBWorld lists it as February 15, 2001. Remember, though, it's not often that the projected release dates listed by stores are very accurate. Thanks to http://tatooine.cjb.net (I couldn't access this site today) via The Art of the Jedi.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: MACE HiDeOuT - Brian @ 1:14 AM
File: MACE HiDeOuT
Author: MACE_Intrepid
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a very small multiplayer level set in a canyon. It's very good for training gunners and snipers. A force 4 level should be sufficient with 2-3 players; any more than that and it gets crowded. This level is the Sniper Fort level with a few changes.

Description: You are a secret band of rebels that have broken into a hidden Imperial base. The Imperials have been working on a secret suit that repels certain laser fire. So far, they have only been able to develop a suit for scout troopers. They intend to make a suit for every person in the fleet. You must stop them!
Etc. - Brian @ 1:45 AM
Well it looks like the verdict on the Obi-Wan editor is in. It seems quite a few people are willing to work on editing utilities, but so far it's a wait and see attitude on a full editor. We have to wait and see whether LEC is as addon-friendly with Obi-Wan as they were with JK. Be sure to read the topic for more information, as well as comments from the programmer of Jed, Alexei Novikov.

Completely unrelated, but does anyone reading this site play Asheron's Call? If so, be sure to visit the Asheron's Call Forum. I personally love the game, so if you're an AC player on Harvestgain, be sure to give my character a tell (Lorn'elth).
Episode II Footage - Brian @ 1:49 AM
Yeah, yeah, not JK, but it certainly is interesting. Watto's Junkyard has a link to a site where you can nab some Episode II footage from the shooting in Spain... You'll need the RealPlayer to watch it.
Musings - Archimedes @ 12:12 PM
Good day, Massassians. Since Juztyn went ahead and "pretended" to be me on the forums, posting that I had changed my name, I'm sure this is old news to 90% of you all, but I'm going to say it anyway. I am darkjedi86, believe it or not. I finally got the guts needed to change to a much better name. Why did I change? For one, "darkjedi86" is the most bland name of all time. Two, it portrays a false image of me - like I'm some hAcKeR d00d, which is just about as wrong as you can get in estimating my personality. Three, I'm starting a website of my own pretty soon, and "darkjedi86" just doesn't sound like a good name for a webmaster.

I understand this is a bit weird for you all, but I'm asking for your help. If Archimedes is a bit too long, try Archie. I would really appreciate it if you guys helped me drive that horrid name out of my memory forever.

Now that that's over with, on to more important stuff. I'm sorry for my absence in the news lately; High School's been eating up a lot of my time, but I should be rolling away the stone once more. Thanks for your patience guys. :)
The Art of Star Wars - Archimedes @ 1:40 PM
It appears that Jedi Nights grabbed a hold of a story by International House of Mojo, which is an article on a visit to a very funky Star Wars exhibit, The Art of Star Wars. The article has a narrated adventure through the exhibit, as well as pictures of the posters, models, costumes, as well as other objects of pleasure to any Star Wars fan. Click here to check this baby out.

The traditional tip o' the hat goes to Jedi Nights for this one. Thanks guys!

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Galtha Gas Station - Brian @ 1:40 AM

Mod Article - Brian @ 2:25 AM
I recieved this email about a month ago, but I was knee deep in moving and becoming a civilian again that I didn't post it. Anyway, Lou Graziani sent word that AVault posted an interesting article on making mods for games. It discusses the positive and negative aspects of allowing mod creation, as well as some of the things developers and publishers have to deal with. Overall, a great read.

Elyas Updates - Archimedes @ 2:59 PM
It seems Elyas--which means "fool" in Greek--has updates his ever-present site, Elyas's Domain. He's got new screenshots of weapons that are to be featured in the AlieNations Modification, as well as screens oh his latest level, Elyas's DM. Two new AlieNations stories--The Fate of the Ancient Ones and The Fuk'ilat Chronicles: Volume III--can also be found.
News of the Millennium - Archimedes @ 3:02 PM
Pardon the pun, but indeed, Hideki has sent news regarding one of our hosted sites, Millennium. Suddenly stricken with stage-fright, I'll hand over the mike to Hideki.
Millennium has finally got its counter and the poll started working again. Now I have a new poll for the site layout. I need the visitors' feedback.

On a side note, all the tutorials have been fixed for reads. I'll be adding more to the modification collection as time goes by. So check back.
Head on down to Millennium and vote for the future of our very existence.

An all-new version of Raynar's Rbots mod for MotS has been released. Rbots adds intelligent computer-controlled "bots" to the game. This is designed to recreate the feel of multiplayer without all the hassles (finding other players, lag, etc).

New Features:

  • Supports up to 30 bots per level
  • Now runs much faster
  • Easy creation of new bots (templates) - now uses standard mulitplayer models
  • No restrictions on how many of each bot per level
  • Easier to add Rbots to levels
  • Different game play modes - sabers, guns, teams.
  • Comes complete with all 55 multiplayer models included with MOTS
Head on over to the Rbots page for more information.

They have a great screenshots section, as well as a very good page to find additional information on the mod. They are also looking for new members--coggers especially--so if you're interested, email Ztok32.

Be sure to check it out and let yourself be heard.

SotD Archives - Brian @ 2:13 AM
If you click the SotD Archives link (or here), you can get a listing of all our previous Screenshots of the Day. There are various view options and whatnot. Thanks to Gelynx for reminding me that I hadn't gotten around to writing the script yet. I actually used perl this time, as I'm getting a little bit tired of writing in PHP. I definitely believe that PHP is a better web scripting language, I just wanted to give myself a challenge (and believe me, after probably a year of not touching perl, going back is a challenge). Feel free to email me with comments or any bugs you may dig up...
Updates @ TACC - Ryan @ 1:08 PM

Level Submissions - Brian @ 5:09 PM
Alright, look. The submission instructions have a nice list of everything you need to provide when submitting levels. We cannot and will not post levels that don't have all the required information. I personally try to email people when they don't submit properly, but I'm getting tired of saying the same thing over and over. Please, even if you have previous experience submitting levels, go over the submission instructions before you send - I'm sick of having to wait for my 56k modem to download 20 megs worth of levels when I can only post 25% of them.

Level Submissions: I'm still getting a lot of submissions w/out all the required information. My father (I guess he checks out the site every once in a while) made a suggestion, so here it is:
Hello Son,

It seems you may be getting a little testy about incomplete level submissions. Take a deep breath and relax. Some people are unable to follow instructions or suggestions. Maybe you can invent a program that punishes the offenders physically.

Love Dad
You heard it, if you don't submit your levels correctly, we will physically punish you.

Level Designer Interview - Brian @ 5:13 AM
Voodoo Extreme announced that Fragland had posted an interview with with Harvey "Witchboy" Smith from Ion Storm, lead designer on Deus Ex, and James Parkman, level designer at Legend Entertainment, currently occupied with Unreal 2. Why would you care about that? Because level designers rock, and anyone that has created (or even started creating) a level can be considered a level designer. Here's a sample of the goodies you will find:
What brought you to the gaming industry?

James : During my senior year of college I decided that creating Quake 2 single player levels was far more rewarding than going to class. Luckily this paid off as I got a job at a fledgling company a few months later, after which I landed my current gig at Legend where I worked extensively on Wheel of Time and now on Unreal 2.

Harvey : I applied for a test/QA position at Origin, almost 8 years ago.
New MotS Cog: Lava - Brian @ 5:26 AM
Antony Espindola, who has been around the JK community for as long as I can remember, has submitted a slick lava cog for MotS. It includes a nice .wav file for hissing, as well.
A number of people have requested this COG from some unfinished work I did on a MotS SP level. This cog allows you to create the illusion of lava, with hissing sounds and spitting bits and smoke.

Simply define 5 things on your lava surface, placed randomly about, and assign these to the 5 things in the cog. Use the lava.wav for the sound and experiment with the timings to your liking. You can always use this cog more than once for a larger area.
Be sure to read the readme for more information! For even more cogs, be sure to visit our cog archives.

Brad McQuaid Interview - Brian @ 9:00 PM

Level Designer Interview Part 3 - Brian @ 3:53 AM
Fragland has posted part 3 of their level designers interview. Today they talk with Mike "Oz" Schulenberg, designer of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force (Raven Software), and Warren Marshall, from Epic Games.
Etc. - Brian @ 6:15 AM
I made a few small updates to the main page this morning. First off, SavageX's link has been removed. Second, I removed the MPG games listing due to the fact that the MPG isn't being used very often. I'm considering reprogramming the IP board scripts. With the new version, it would allow you to select any level/mod in our archives before you start the game. The problem is the fact that I don't want to spend the time programming something that nobody will use. If you have any input, please post it on this thread.
Rbots: Welcome to Massassi! - Brian @ 4:19 PM
I am very pleased to announce the immediate release of the new Rbots page, hosted right here at Massassi. Don't know what Rbots is? I'll let Raynar explain:
Rbots is a project to create a "bot" for Jedi Knight. A bot is a computer controlled player for multiplayer games. It should react and play just like a human player - it has health, shields, limited ammo & weapons and when it dies it will 'respawn' to allow the game to continue. Multiple bots will battle amongst themselves as well as any number of human players.
For more information on what exactly Rbots is, please visit the Rbots home page: http://rbots.massassi.net.

While you're at it, be sure to stop by the official Rbots forums and leave any comments.

Please Note: Unlike so many projects, there are already JK and MotS versions of Rbots available for download on the Rbots page! What are you waiting for?

Today I will be shopping for a Jeep Wrangler and a house/apartment, so there probably won't be any updates. Perhaps the rest of the staff will do some work, eh? By the way, Kedri's on vacation, that's why you haven't seen his mug around here lately.
DCM #62 Released - Archimedes @ 1:28 PM
Outpost D-34 reports that DCM #62 has been released, as well as two Episode II storyboard drawings; the first can be found here, while the second can be found there. Hilarious comics, the whole lot of 'em, so if you haven't heard of DCM before, be sure to check these out.
TPMTC Newsletter - Archimedes @ 1:38 PM
The Phantom Menace TC has released its newsletter early, which was supposed to be open to the public on October 1, 2000. Like they say, there's no time like the present, so head on over to the site and be sure to take a peek.

Thanks goes to Outpost D-34.

Houston, we have a problem... - Juztyn @ 10:54 PM
I'm not exactly sure what is going on, but there's something messed with the Forums. Apparently if you try to post a message, your account will be deleted. I've run some tests, and this is definately the case. For the time being, I would suggest that you do not attempt to post on the forums, as there is obviously a bug at work.

I'll try to get ahold of Brian and see what he can do. We'll keep you updated.

[Update: Hmm.. now there is something slowly deleting all the posts on all the forums. At current we've lost the Discussion forum, Showcase forum, and the Asheron's Call Forum. I'm fairly sure this isn't a hacker, but we'll see what Brian says. Sigh]
Forum Update - Brian @ 4:28 AM
As you know (by reading the post just below this one), we have had some problems with the forums. I'm still working on them, but it looks like all but a few threads are fully recoverable, but unfortunately, if you tried to post, your account was somehow deleted. If this is the case, you'll have to re-register when the forums come back up. Big apology for this inconvenience.

On a side note, as soon as we switch servers (we've got too much traffic for our current one), we will be moving to a new type of forum software. It operates and looks nearly identical to our current setup, but it is completely database-driven, which means more speed and less headaches. Don't worry, when this happens, ALL threads and registrations will be transferred. This should happen in about a month.

Update: All threads have been restored. However, I pruned both the Discussion forum and the Showcase forum. I just deleted messages older than 30 days on the Discussion, and 60 days on the Showcase. Perhaps this will help our forum to run better... We'll see how it goes. If you were one of the few (about 10) that had your account deleted, please re-register, and if you for some reason care about your post count, send me an email with your exact username, and estimated count before you lost it, and I will fix your profile.

65,280 - blujay @ 6:25 PM
That's the number of extra colors you can use in JK mats, if you have a compatible video card. See this thread, where 16-bit mats in JK are discussed.
