New Jedi Outcast Player Model: Link - Kedri @ 7:49 AM
Download: link.zip
Author: Dan Kapphahn (DAK, a.k.a Antizac)
View: Screenshot
Description: This is Version 2.0 of my Link model, (you know, Link, from 'The Legend of Zelda'?) which is the best and last version. I didn't have any restrictions on the version 1 release - and that just started causing some problems. So, I'm going to have to ask people to e-mail me, for permission, if they want to re-skin it and such (see the model_readme.txt).

In this version, a few things have been added and changed. Link's sword sheath is now included on the model - the strap across the torso, and the belt are more detailed (modeled buckles, and such...). Link's face has some slight modeling tweaks, but it's not very noticeable - the eyebrows on the face have been adjusted, and I think it looks much better now. Other than that, I think it's just about perfect.

(Master Sword not included.)

Enjoy. =)

New Jedi Outcast Skin: Lord Caeruleus - GhostOfYoda @ 4:45 AM
File: Lord Caeruleus
Author: SaulDraaku
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is my first skin ever. It's a character that I've called 'Lord Caeruleus' (which means 'dark' in Latin) and is based on the Reborn skin with darker textures and metallic plates replacing that sash thing they wear. I've also done face markings that I think go well with the design, at first I went for a Maul style look on the face but decided to go for something different. My own dragon insignia design is on there too. Bot support and team colours are included. There are no new sounds yet, as I haven't figured out how to make them, but I'm working on it.

DFLev and Starfighters 3.0 Resurfaces! - BV @ 3:08 PM
We received this e-mail from Dan Gast, the founder of DFLev:
DFLev, Dark Forces Editing, has been quietly running in the background of the JK Community for some time. Once popular for its Starfighters MOD, the group has shifted its editing interests to other games recently. However, with the recent revamping of the entire site, and a growing demand for downloads of the old Starfighters MOD (version 3.0), the old downloads have been added back for download. So, if you have had that burning desire to play that good old MOD Starfighters 3.0 Beta, please proceed to http://www.dflev.cjb.net/ and follow the links to the JK Projects and to the download site. Thanks to all who e-mailed me saying that they loved the MOD, and I hope that this will inspire me to finally finish the darn thing. Thank you!

-Dan Gast
DFLev Founder
Starfighters 3.0 Creator

Head over to their website and check it out!

Update: Daniel Gast, author of the Starfighters mod, has sent us an update readme including more specific installation notes for those who are having troubles with the somewhat vague ones included with the mod. Check them out here.

New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Sith Space Tower - GhostOfYoda @ 10:34 AM
File: Sith Space Tower
Author: Evil Newb
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a space tower level. I tried to make it look like it's on a ship. There are a trap windows at the bottom which when broken, allow players fall into space. This map is best for dueling with full force. This is my first level, so tell me what you think of it.
New Jedi Outcast Multiplayer Level: Lazer War: Gold Edition - GhostOfYoda @ 10:39 AM
File: Lazer War: Gold Edition
Author: Morgan_Leah_TJC AKA Voronwe_Elf
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is an upgrade of Lazer War and I've improved it bigtime. I made a whole new map, which is more like a maze. The map is a lot easier to stare at, and there are a few places for fragging enjoyment. I also added music and bot support. The weapons and items are the same, but it's a much better map altogether. I hope you like it! (Note: Play this map in CTF, using Instagib for added fun.)

File: Maw - The Revenge

New Jedi Outcast Skin: Lord Caeruleus V1.1 (final) - GhostOfYoda @ 10:45 AM
File: Lord Caeruleus V1.1 (final)
Author: SaulDraaku
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is basically the same as my original submission of this skin, but now I have fixed a problem with the bot naming that prevented the team colours from showing in-game. I have also changed the sounds to that of the Reborn Boss because I think they sound better. This is is a character I've called 'Lord Caeruleus' (which means 'dark' in Latin) based on the Reborn skin with darker textures and metallic plates replacing that sash thing they wear. I've also done face markings that I think go well with the design. At first I went for a Maul style on the face look but decided to go for something different. My own dragon insignia design is on there too. Bot support and team colors are included. There are no new sounds yet.
Submitting Levels - GhostOfYoda @ 10:55 AM
Due to incorrect submission of levels, every time I post levels, I have to discard between a third to half of them. To avoid inconveniencing the staff at Massassi and to make sure that your level is posted, please follow the instructions provided, and keep in mind the following things:-

  • Include two screenshots in JPG or GIF format. JK and MotS automatically save screenshots as BMPs (which are much larger), so you will have to convert them. I recommend using a program called IrfanView. Also, please make sure your screenshots are no larger than 800x600.
  • Please check through your spelling and grammar, and make sure that your description makes sense. Use complete sentences all the time (eg. "This is good for generic combat", not, "Good for generic combat.") If in doubt, read it out!
  • Finally, make sure that you fill in the details required by the submission instructions in the body of your email.

If these guidelines are not followed, your level will be moved to the bottom of the queue to be posted, or not posted at all.
  • New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Abandoned - mscbuck @ 11:50 AM
    File: Abandoned
    Author: SkyXax
    Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Cold, alone, and in rubble, this old Imperial Mining Base, used for mining Ore, lays in ruins from the eruptions in the atmosphere of the planet Relko. But troopers limbs scattered through-out the halls. Death experience that seems not of an eruption. Could there be something else perhaps behind these deaths?

This level is meant for guns with 3-4 players. This is my first released level so far. Any tips or hints or help to improve this or further levels is GREATLY appriciated! (Eventually I will be making a Single Player that has to do with the massacure of troopers and the eruptions on planet Relko, once I figure out how to work opening doors correctly.)

New Animations in JO! - GhostOfYoda @ 6:38 AM
ASk, from JKII.net, has managed to figure out how to create new animations that can be used in Jedi Outcast, and possibly Jedi Academy when it is released. For more information, including a complete tutorial on how to do it, click here:

    http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=107116
New Jedi Outcast Skin: Neo (Final) - GhostOfYoda @ 9:15 AM
    File: Neo (Final)
    Author: JEDI_Salvation
    Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This contains three different reskins (using the prisonner model) with completely new textures. Bot support is included as well as new sounds taken straight from The Matrix. If somebody else made a public Neo skin and is offended by my attempts, I apologize but I spent about 3 months looking for one and then gave up and decided to make my own. So here it is, enjoy! Thanks to everybody at Massassi forums for being so hard on me and everybody at jediknightii's forums for their support.

  • The default skin is Neo without holster and trenchcoat from the subway scene I guess. I thought he looked cool and since I don't have time to learn to model, you'll have to live without the trenchcoat and sunglasses. Sorry.
  • The red skin is Neo in the real world with a plug on the back of head.
  • The blue skin is Thomas Anderson.

Since the beta, I've fixed some major texture problems so now he looks more like Keanu now instead of a "sick Japanese Michael Jackson." I also added some new sounds and changed the bot file a little.
  • New Jedi Knight Multiplayer Level: Rooftops - GhostOfYoda @ 10:20 AM
    File: Rooftops
    Author: Peter Kavanaugh (WAR_Nuker)
    Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a relatively small multiplayer level for Jedi Knight consisting of 25 buildings of different heights and structures of which you must jump from one at a time to get around. This level will keep you on your toes because you never know who's looking at you. You may think you are the hunter but you could very well be the hunted. Note that if you don't have high level force speed, force jump, or a grapple then you will find that maneuvering from building to building is quite difficult and irritating. Also, this has the thermal detonator explosion from the level Morpheus (special thanks to bug for that one). Have fun and watch your step.

HomeLAN Fed recently sat down with Jake Keating to talk about his popular creation, the Colosseum Mod for Jedi Outcast. The Q&A session covers a broad range of topics, and makes for interesting reading. Check it out when you've got a chance.

Duelers and Cool Mods for JK2 Projects - blujay @ 3:15 PM
Marker0077 sent this in about the Duelers and new Cool Mods for JK2 projects:
Due to some disagreements, Marker0077 has left the duelers team.

Marker0077 is now starting the Cool Mods for JK2 project. If you have played Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, you may have heard of the Cool Mods for MoHAA project. We are hoping to have the Cool Mods for JK2 web site up & running either tomorrow or the next day, and we are planning to have the actual mod release available sometime next week.
    This project will feature:

    • Hilts Packs: The best hilts for JK2. These have gone through Cool Mods standards, meaning sword hilts blades do not exceed the actual blade length, all blades are in the exact same position, etc; etc.

The hilts that do not pass standards such as the Binford Chainsaw hilt & the Schwartz hilt, go in the Non-Standard Hilts pack. Explanations of why each hilt does not pass standards is given in the credits section of the Cool Mods manual.

A promotional screenshot for the Cool Mods hilts can be viewed here (283kb)

    • Skins Pack A: Over 200 skins in 1 pack. These not only have more sounds, more skins, full bot support, & tons & tons of fixes, but it also takes up 2/3s less disk space as well!

A promotional screenshot for Cool Mods: Skins Pack A can be viewed here (428kb)

A promotional screenshot for Cool Mods: Alternate Red Dash can be viewed here (133kb)

    • Installers: No zip files here people. If you already have a hilt or skin that is included in any of these packs, the installer shall prompt you to move them to a sub-folder in your "base" folder so there are no duplicate models or skins.
