Submission Instructions Updated - Kedri @ 8:02 PM
It's been a long time coming, but we've finally updated the Submission Instructions page. Apart from general updates on the instructions already there, we've also posted lots of new information for submitting Jedi Outcast material for us to post and host. We've also posted links to new sample readme files you can download, modify and use for your submissions.
New Jedi Outcast Multiplayer Level: Dueling Jedi Arena - mscbuck @ 6:44 PM
File: Dueling Jedi Arena
Author: Odyssey Wing
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is a small MP duel map, great with sabers only and full force. The level is a bit dark for players to run and hide. It also has colorful lighting, which gives the level a futuristic look.
Outcast Support at CSports.net - Hebedee @ 6:10 PM
Edward Watson of CSports.net has notified us of Jedi Outcast support for their computer statistics and ranking service. Here is an excerpt from the e-mail:
www.CSports.net is a free to use computer games statistics and ranking service for gamers. We currently maintain ladders for over 1250 modifications for 51 game titles. We have recently added support for Jedi Knight II. We are already recording statistics for over 80,000 player names in 6 JK2 ladders (see here). We will add more ladders for mods as we identify them. Players can search for their statistics at this url.
This ought to add some competition to your server; so go check it out!
Outcast in GTKRadiant #2 - Hebedee @ 2:16 PM
Sine Nomen has discovered another way to edit Jedi Outcast in GTKRadiant. Here are the steps, according to Sine.
First, install GTKRadiant and change the file pathways for the entities to the ones in JK2Radiant. They include:
  • Base path: C:\PROGRA~1\LUCASA~1\STARWA~1\GAMEDATA\BASE
  • Maps path: C:\PROGRA~1\LUCASA~1\STARWA~1\GAMEDATA\BASE\MAPS
  • Remote base path: C:\PROGRA~1\LUCASA~1\STARWA~1\GAMEDATA\BASE
  • Entity path: C:\PROGRA~1\LUCASA~1\STARWA~1\GAMEDATA\TOOLS
  • Texture path: C:\PROGRA~1\LUCASA~1\STARWA~1\GAMEDATA\base\textures
Once you've done that, you can do anything in GTKRadiant that you could in JK2; just load the file into JK2Radiant when you're done, and compile. This method works with version 1.2.2 of GTKRadiant.
If this method doesn't work, use the below described method.
Edit Outcast in GTKRadiant - Hebedee @ 2:00 PM
JK2ED, a JediKnightII.net hosted site, has posted a guide on how to set up GTKRadiant to edit Jedi Outcast. You can find it here.
Bot Tutorial - Det @ 1:52 PM
I saw over at Raven's Jedi Outcast Resource Page that they've added a document detailing how to add bot support to your multiplayer maps, this should hopefully allow mappers to stop the bots jumping to their doom every few seconds. Use the link above to visit the site, or click here to download the tutorial directly.
The Klez Worm - Hebedee @ 1:49 PM
lordvader has given me some info to post on the Klez Worm that has infected many people recently. Here is what he has to say:
W32.Klez is a worm which uses the infected computers' windows address book to determine addresses to send itself to. The worm has its own means of sending, and therefore does not need to use the infected e-mail client to send itself. The subject and attachment are random, although there have been some reports at least within this community of relation to Jedi Outcast. It exploits a vulnerability found by Juan Carlos García Cuartango of Kriptopolis.com, similar to that found by Georgi Guninski of Guninski.com. This was found on March 29th, and affects those running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 and 5.5, regardless of the version of Outlook Express. It also attempts to copy itself to all shared drives and folders it can find. In order to protect against W32.Klez, it is suggested you upgrade Internet Explorer to a version over 5.5 and/or apply Service Pack 2.
Thanks to lordvader for the information - now fix your computers!
Gamitopia Jedi Outcast Review - Det @ 1:20 PM
Gamitopia have added their review of Jedi Outcast to their site, giving it an excellent score of 91%.
Grab your light saber and use the Force to fight the evil Empire as erstwhile Jedi, Kyle Katarn, in this action-packed title set in the Star Wars universe. With amazing levels, beautiful graphics, and a rousing soundtrack, not to mention the chance to fight off hordes of both classic and new SW baddies, this is one FPS you won't want to miss!

Jedi Outcast Tops Sales Charts - Hebedee @ 8:13 PM
I noticed on the official Jedi Outcast webpage that:
Star Wars® Jedi Knight®II: Jedi Outcast™, from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, was the best-selling premium priced PC game in dollars for the month of March, according to NPD Intelect. The first-person action game has remained a top-selling title in North America since its launch on March 28, 2002.

Elited Jedi Outcast Review - Det @ 4:53 PM
Elited has reviewed the long awaited Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast from Raven Software and Lucas Arts. TF_Kritikal adds his review of the gameplay there and what Team Fusion thinks.
Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast is by far one of the most exciting games that has been released in quite some time. With Raven Software's developers tweaking the Quake 3 Team Arena engine we are given a new style of gameplay with outstanding graphics. Kyle Katarn has some new acrobat moves that are sure to make a Stormtroopers head spin. In all it's glory the lightsaber magnificently hums and glows. The exciting gameplay that keeps you on your toes makes up for any little flaw. Hours of enjoyment and replayability are what you get from Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.

Dedicated Server Launcher - Det @ 12:46 PM
Saw at JediKnightII.net that a Dedicated Server launcher has been created, this works with the Dedicated Server software for Windows (supplied by Raven) to make configuration and launching easier. Visit the author's homepage to download the software and for more information: http://jk2dedlauncher.tripod.com/
Det signing in. - Det @ 10:12 AM
Well here I am, the latest Massassi staff member. I'll be posting news from now on, so now we'll be even more up-to-date with the latest Jedi Knight and Jedi Outcast happenings.
New Jedi Outcast Mod: Irimi-Ai's Animation Mod Version 105 - mscbuck @ 8:19 AM
File: Irimi-Ai's Animation Mod Version 105
Author: Irimi-Ai
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: Replaces rolls with ariels, modified butterfly kick, and a butterfly twist. Replaces lunge with a new modified jumping, spinning saber attack. Added Force get-up animations. Shortened the amount of time spent on the ground for some knockdowns. For both SP and MP. Read the included readme for a much more detailed description of all the changes.
New Jedi Outcast Mod: Episode 1 and Trilogy Sabers - mscbuck @ 8:10 AM
File: Episode 1 and Trilogy Sabers
Author: Firestorm
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This mod fuses the best of other mods together. It uses Lordvaders uber-saber mod to make the trails smoother. It uses Wanderer's Shadowsaber glows to better emulate the Ep1 glows. Last but not least it uses Greg Wilson's weaponglow mod to make the blaster shots have dynamic lighting. I got permision from all these authors. Then I added the saber cores and some changes to enemy AI which also includes better dismemberment possibilities.

New Jedi Outcast Multiplayer Level: Bespin Cloud Platform - mscbuck @ 6:19 PM
File: Bespin Cloud Platform
Author: Annihilator
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This duel/FFA map is set on a floating platform above Bespin. It took me about a day to make. This was originally a test map to see what I can do in Radiant, but it came out better than I expected so I decided to release it.
New Review From Brian - mscbuck @ 5:49 PM
Brian just contacted us, saying that VoodooExtreme has finally posted his review of Jedi Outcast. You can find the review here.
New Jedi Outcast Multiplayer Level: Duel Academy - mscbuck @ 4:42 PM
File: Duel Academy
Author: Mike (PurplWulf) Mullaney
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This level was created to test the new tools released by Raven for level editing, and was for use mainly by myself, and my friends for sabering only. It's a recreation of the training arena found in the SP map, yavin_temple, when searching for Luke. It's fully functional except for bot AI support, and it is selectable in-game using the multiplayer menu. It supports Duel, FFA, and Team FFA styles of play. All credit goes to Raven and Lucas Arts for the design, layout, and texturing.
New Jedi Outcast Multiplayer Level: Ancient Temple - mscbuck @ 4:35 PM
File: Ancient Temple
Author: BR_Tybal
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This is just a simple little duel map, a variation on the default box if you will. It's great fun with mild force. You can wall run around pillars. There is plenty of room for a small FFA, but small enough for duels.
New Jedi Outcast Skin: Padawan Learner: Kyle Katarn - mscbuck @ 4:29 PM
File: Padawan Learner: Kyle Katarn
Author: Jedi Master
Screenshots: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2
Description: This skin replaces the Kyle skin in single and multiplayer games with a padawan learner skin. I have given Kyle a shave and removed any grey hairs since he is a padawan. He is wearing white clothing similar to the clothing Obi-Wan Kenobi wore while dueling Darth Maul in Episode I.

Boba/Jango Fett Model and Skin - blujay @ 3:43 PM
Over at JediKnightII.net I saw that on their forums BloodRiot and Absath are posting their progress on their great Boba/Jango Fett model and skin. You can see their initial work on the first page, and their latest work on the last page.
The Iron Jedi TC - Kedri @ 7:23 AM
This bit of news sort of slipped through the cracks previously, but it's something you guys would definitely be interested in seeing:
A couple of days before Jedi Knight II was released, the Iron Jedi TC was finished. This mod changes all weapons and Force powers. It also supports new skins, hotkeys, skills, and abilities. It is a two-part file like the original JK installation, the reason being that the file was too large to be uploaded at its home site.

The IJ TC has been under development for over two years and has finally been finished. Special thanks to the creators of SS3, SBX, Glowsaber, IWP2, LEC, etc. If any code/files were not included please send a notice to lordxt_ij@hotmail.com. Both of these files must be downloaded for the entire TC.
The TC files, as well as an multiplayer level, can be downloaded using the links below...

The Iron Jedi TC Homepage can be found at http://theironjedi.homestead.com/.

Orphus Gaming Center Mirroring Editing Tools - Kedri @ 9:23 PM
People are still experiencing erratic download responses from our server. Fortunately, Cedric from the Orphus Gaming Center let us know they're also mirroring the updated set of JK2 Editing Tools. Their site's quite nimble with response times, so you shouldn't have a problem getting your downloads on, plus they've also got a few other JK2-related files you might be interested in checking out!
